Even though the 2010 remake of Nightmare on Elm Street is watchable, it is still not a good remake, and I heard the original script of the remake is far better but then was changed to make it more pleasing to the audience, so I'm choosing A Nightmare On Elm Street for worst remake. I like House of Wax but I'm going to choose a remake where I also already seen the original movie and I never saw the original House of Wax. The remake I'm going to choose is kind of a tie between The Omen and Friday the 13th. I enjoyed The Omen remake more then the original movie, and I do enjoy the Friday the 13th remake, not sure if I like it more then the original, but I find the 2009 remake creative in the sense that they combined the first 4 movies in one movie.

The thing is, the original Black Christmas (FROM THE 70S) were already a perfectly feminist movie, without being cringy. As you said. I don't know what to answer to the best remake because most the remake that are your bests I haven't seen the originals BUT I can say that I like When a stranger calls and The ring. For the worst remake I am soooooo glad that Zzavid mentioned Psycho because since the beginning of the video I was saying Why nobody says Psycho !?!?!?! *House of wax with Paris Hilton was the first horror movie I saw in a full capacity viewing in cinema and I remember people applauded and screamed when she was killed. It was also the first and last time that a movie kept me awake almost all night because I woke up from a nightmare and it was because of ONE scene in particular (someone entering a room or going down stairs and the killer cutting that person behind feet/ankles so that they can't run away) can't really remember because to this day I never gave it a second viewing. Although I personally prefer the original, The Last House on the Left (2009) was a decent remake. I just grew up with the original Wes Craven one since my mom was a fan of it. I think it felt more brutal which makes the parents getting revenge more impactful. But the remake cuts out all of the unnecessary filler scenes that take away from the suspense. So both have pros and cons. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) is still one of the best remakes in my opinion. And I agree with the part about Rocky Horror. You just can't recreate the magic of the original. 🖤👄

The Night of the Living Dead remake by Tom Savini is a masterpiece in my opinion. Patricia Tallman turned the role of Barbara into a zombie slaying action queen. Candyman star Tony Todd is the icing on the cake. I love the original and of course it set the rules of the zombie genre, but it’s too slow and Barbara basically spent her time running about screaming. Robert Englund gave an excellent explanation as to why NMOES remake didn't work: we didn't care about the kids. The remake starts off with the kids being drab and depressed, so when the kills start there's no real risk. Whereas in the original, we get to know the kids, we get to see them having fun and joking with each other, so when the kills come, we worry for the kids because we actually like them. Best remake: Cape Fear 1991 - Robert De Niro was so creepy, and Jessica Lange was incredible!! This was also the movie that made me love Juliette Lewis. (Also, obvious shoutout to The Thing 1982 as the actual best remake ever). Worst: Martyrs 2015 - like why? Whyyy? No one asked for an American version. And where was the violence? It was so unnecessary and bad.

Other than the Scream movies I’m not that well-versed in the horror genre. Lately I’ve found myself watching more horror films and I’m surprised by how much I like it. I love listening to you guys because not only are you all hilarious, but I get so many good recommendations. Right now I’m working my way through the Nightmare on Elm Street series. Can’t wait to check out the remake to see if George is right.

So based off research o did about psycho remake: Although this remake was received negatively by critics, this did get a blessing from Sir Alfred Hitchcock's daughter, Patricia Hitchcock O'Connell. She even claimed that remaking a film shot-for-shot is something her father would have done. Hitchcock did indeed remake one of his own films, The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) as The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), but it was not shot-for-shot. Gus van sant was asked why do it shot for shot and same script and he said so no one else would have to. I’m still not a fan.

Loved Black Christmas 2006 and hated Black Christmas 2019. I love kick ass women, but I have to agree with David on his take on the 2019 Black Christmas. 😅

The 2006 version is vastly superior than 2019. Still baffled it was made.

My pick for the best remake is Evil Dead 2013 and in my opinion the worst remake ever made is the Suspiria 2018 remake because it is so tirelessly mediocre that it doesn't even come near the original 1977 movie.
@TheHorrorHourTV2 жыл бұрын
Yutaka will agree with you on both points!!

Maaaan everyone is at my throat about thinking that movie was trash. I literally love all the actresses involved (I would die for Tilda Swinton) and I even like the director (altho he's kind of the king of remakes) but that was a no for me honey. No point, no plot, no characters, the cinematography that was the main point of the original was mediocre, etc.

Ok so I wrote another comment on here that was just fun and silly, before David mentioned this film and it’s back story. And when he did mention it, I just had to write a second comment. Sorry! But its too good not to talk about. I’ve done a lot of research about the Texarkana Moonlight Murders and the Moonlight Phantom Killer (the never caught real life serial killer the film THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN is based on), and have this wierd theory that the never caught Phantom Killer and the never caught Zodiac killer are actually the same person. The cops had suspects for both, but no one was actually ever announced, tried and convicted as the killer in either, and almost all suspects were eventually ruled out. But I don’t think the phantom stopped killing…I think he just continued moving further west, and became the Zodiac. Because when the zodiac started, the Texarkana one had stopped, and the timeline was very congruent with someone migrating across the US and stopping for awhile, then picking back up with the trip again. Especially back in that time period when travel was much slower. Kills may have happened along the travel route that have never even been attributed to either one, just are unsolved murders, but could very well be part of the migration of the phantom arriving in and eventually becoming the zodiac in a new location. Communication between states and law agencies back then was practically non existent and dna profiling and it’s subsequent data base didn’t exist; killers would often just move and start up again in a new place as a way to avoid being caught. Also a lot of the styles of killing, the kill “signature”, in both cases is startlingly similar and it’s a progressive style, like the killer became better and more distilled in killing and his mission the longer he did it. I’m telling you, the more you dive down that rabbit hole, the deeper it gets. YOU ALL SHOULD DO A TRUE CRIME SEGMENT, OR BEST HORROR FILMS BASED ON TRUE HORROR EVENTS!! And Ohsuka it’s ok baby doll, my grandmother had a rotary phone too, it doesn’t make you old. AND we had a really cool old timey remake of one of those classic Graham bell phones with the rotor and speaking piece on the body and the hand held earpiece separate on the side, in addition to our cordless phones, when I was growing up!!! It was an antique replica. Certain kinds of rotary phones are coming back in style too as cool throwbacks (like the lip phones and the really sexy mother of pearl kinds). Lots of people, (COOL people GEORGE 🙄😂) have rotary phones for kitschy effect these days. They are quite retro chic!!!
