great info on many topics.. i have a lifted jeep gladiator that gets driven once a week that i love to keep clean ... i look at it as my show car :) after detailing it , ill pull it in the driveway and kickback in the lawn chair and just stair at it .. this is a very relaxing and enjoyable time for me .. this is my way of reducing stress and just making my day more enjoyable..

when describing polishing to a customer, I like to compare it to when they go to an ice-skating rink and everybody has to leave the ice so that they can bring out the Zamboni. What went from a marred and scratched up surface will now look like a polished piece of glass. We are "shaving or removing" a small amount of material to remove imperfections. Great info Yvan!

Great video! I have to admit that the part about foaming your interior with the brushes really hit home for me as it was what I “thought” had to be done and made me hate interior detailing, especially the residue in the little cracks 😡🤬😡. Your method of doing interior detailing via rinseless wash solution damped cloth/towel not only made it efficient, but made it enjoyable for me to do the interior of my car.

Appreciate the safety reminders. As I grow older, there I am lying across the front seat, twisted where I can get up under the dash and trying to clean the area around the pedals - suddenly wondering how long it will be til my wife finds me and tries to drag me out of the car, lol. Also I have found how great a little wheeled adjustable seat is for cleaning/polishing the sides and front/back bumpers. No more bending, squatting, stooping and I can scoot around and work quickly.

I am glad that someone finally talked about the 3 PH system. Use a good wash soap and hand wash simple as that. Find a good wash shampoo and wax you like and you are good to go.🇨🇦👍👍

Great points. The only thing i might add if i can is the work area. I try my best to keep the area clean and dry. If i get water or chemicals on the floor, i clean it up. Falling down sucks. Power cords are another one to keep an eye on. Try my best not to use a 25-foot cord when im 10 feet away from my work. I can't move freely around the car with my cart with cords laying everywhere. Again, tripping on cords sucks and hitting a car with polisher sucks. Pick up after yourself. Rags laying everywhere is annoying and unsafe. One more thing i might add is lighting. See what your doing. Get decent lights. Ok. Thanks for reminding us all about detailing and having fun.

I think it's mostly to do with how the internet has evolved. More people, more dissent, more discourse, more hivemind/dogma, less discourse, even more hivemind leading to echo chambers. For instance, recommending wet sanding on reddit detailing subs and you'll get shouted down like you're recommending using steel wool on the paint - it's something the community agrees is a sin, so you can't talk about it... Rather than being enthusiasts/professionals/hobbyists just chilling and talking about detailing and neat anecdotes and methods, it's just a list of approved things, and anything outside of that is "bad".

but you are my favorite content creator. I have a gallon of rinseless v2, a gallon of all clean, and a gallon of ceramic gloss, i confess. I may not buy anything else for a year though. I did buy iconic though. I was hesitating to buy a sponge now I have 2. I believe less is more and if i can do it more efficiently that is the way to go.

As an old detailer I can reflect what Ivan says. I used to burn my hands with acid everyday, slip off ladders, milk crates, etc. leaning down to polish rocker panels, smashing my shin on a trailer hitch that left a scar 30 years later. Now I have a shop at home with a comfortable chair, a scissor lift so I can use cordless polishers without leaning or stretching. And as annoying as gloves are I use those too. Well still not always lol ..

Great video and lots of great advice here. I did buy into the ph range with the carpro soaps. I find only the acidic wash actually gave me results. Now I just use rinseless wash and water spot remover and I get great results. Thank you for the video and advice.

I plan on using and IK foamer (or spray bottle if needed) with rinsless wash in it. I know 256 to 1 is the universal dilution, but would there be a better dilution ratio for rinseless wash in a IK foamer for shampooing? Thanks for your time!

To worry about PH levels is too much. polish to absolute perfection for daily drivers is just wasted time and money. as Darren Priest (Auto Fetisch Detail) once said "Managing expectations is the most important thing while talking to a customer, never say things like I will remove ALL scratches"

Great points made. I wish detailers would be more open to learning things from other industries or other detailers. There is more than one way to detail a car. You don't have to do it the way the guy on KZbin did. You can find what works for you and stick with it.

So...what's your take on a KZbinr who builds his channel for years reviewing products, has a yearly awards show...then comes out with his own products that haven't been out for but a couple weeks to the public and he votes his own #1 and a couple of his henchmens products #2 and/or 3🙄 Companies like CarPro, Gyeon, TAC System and Griot's Garage lose out to these upstarts in a VERY short amount of time 🤔 I haven't seen something thrown away so quickly since ___________🤷‍♂️

I certainly agree people should not go out and buy everything that is "new" "the best" "insane" "game changing" and the likes. Yes, pH is a little bit like voltage. Static electricity has crazy high voltage but lacks the charge behind it to kill. High or low pH does not tell you about the total alkalinity or acidity. Since pH is logarithmic, an extreme pH solution could be an extremely concentrated acid or one droplet of hydrochloric acid in 5 gallons.

A great rant and boy have i over polished so many times. With my toyota 86 it will never get more than enhancements to extend its 90-100 micron paints lifespan. Ph is like pores per inch with pads, it is not everything.
