I like the elliptical coil, mostly because of the shape (allows you to go along a sidewalk). You need a longer wooden ruler for your testing!

Maybe a yardstick is in order lol. I do prefer the SP24 as well, but this one does the trick too.

Which coil from the nokta range would you recommend for beach shallow surf /waves hunting? Seeing that theres fast moving water constantly and I'm thinking smaller might work easier thab standard coil.
@thehuntergt4 жыл бұрын
Hmm...tough question...I'm not sure since the stock coil is the thinnest. The 2 smaller coils have taller side walls when comparing. That might give more swing resistance in fluid. The SP22 has the wide openings which might make water travel over and and around easier. Just not sure sorry....without testing each one in rapid succession it is hard to guess.

again a awesome review im kinda liking this coil the sp22 can get into tighter spots its hard decision between the 22 and 24 im swinging toward the 24

I like this one plenty, but for sure prefer the 9x5 coil if I had to choose only one.
@hund86924 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review. Great info. I only use the Simplex for fresh water hunting and would be interested if the 8.5 coil produces more or less drag underwater than the stock 11" coil. If you have a way of testing that, it would be great.
@thehuntergt4 жыл бұрын
I would not think so as it has taller side walls by a CM roughly. Next time I hit the lake I will try to remember to test that.

@@thehuntergt - I have the same question. I own this machine, but despite my many years of detecting experience, I have very little experience detecting in the water. I recently spent a few hours in waist-deep freshwater with the unit, and I felt the stock SP28 was providing a lot of swing resistance underwater. In fact, it was so slow-going in the water, the amount of area I covered in 3.5 hrs was very limited. That being said, I don't want to switch to the SP22 if it won't get easier to push through the water. I already own the SP22, as I keep all the various coils already mounted and wired to their own shafts, so swapping out is simple. I also have the SP24. Do you think the SP24 would be easy to move underwater? On a side-note, it seems whenever I beach detect, I never find much of anything from the dry sand to the waterline. I was really hoping by getting into waist-deep water, I'd have better luck, but according to what I was pulling up in my scoop, the entire beachbottom was covered in at least 6 inches of sand and another 2 inches of Zebra Mussel shells. I understand about searching during low tide and after storms, and I understand how searching low tide will allow you to search further into the surf, but low tide does nothing to remove several inches of sand from a sanded-in beach (wet or dry).

very interesting coil ...does it make the detector a little lighter or is it about the same as the 11" standard ?

It does feel slightly lighter yes. You can feel it once attached.

Would you say the sp24 coil is better for trashy areas and areas with a lot of close together signals debating on what one to buy first👌

Yes, the SP24 will separate just slightly better being narrower.

Kind of a weird release as far as where it fits. It is so close to what the Deus can do as a relic hunter, it makes me scratch my head sometimes, as there are better dedicated gold prospecting machines on the market in the Gold Kruzer and Gold Monster. I mean I like it...people do VERY well with it relic hunting. If you want the tiny small stuff in heavy bed of nails iron...it does the trick. But if you talk about getting more coils for it at 300-400$....you might as well just get a Deus at that point....IMO.
