Nokta makes a pulse scan under water detector that doubles as a pinpointed you could use with the simplex.If the detector is chattering on the wet sands go to ground balance setting change the ground balance value to 0.00 and then switch to any of the other detecting modes and it will automatically set itself to the proper ground balance.

I use GoPro mainly because of the waterproof ability and the later ones now have voice control. Recently got the hero 9. But be careful if wearing in rough sea to have a tether onto cap to your body as I lost cap and camera a couple years ago with rough wave took me off my feet. Never did find it.

@@SandyToesDetecting - Thanks for sharing an honest and informative first outing and review of the Simplex in the water. I would be interested to know if the detector can auto ground balance in the water and what GB number it can achieve. Perhaps you could manually ground balance to zero and see if that reduces the chattering. I know you were happy with the minor chatter, but it would be interesting to know if this can be reduced. I have subscribed and I'm looking forward to your next outing. Kind Regards Bob
@SandyToesDetecting
@SandyToesDetecting 4 жыл бұрын

@SandyToesDetecting 4 жыл бұрын
@@TarotBob You had me thinking about this a lot, I have just finished speaking with nokta/makro on ground balance. It turned out I was doing it correctly, just I was not expecting a fraction of a number so the 0.2 or 0.4 etc I was doing is correctly. Performing a GB in water does reduce chatter if you have it even more.
@TarotBob
@TarotBob 4 жыл бұрын
@@SandyToesDetecting I never thought you were doing anything wrong but like you I was surprised to see a decimal value in your first reply. It's good to know that the Simplex can achieve the correct GB value by pumping the coil, from personal experience lots of other detectors will not achieve this using the auto method and require you to set the GB down to zero manually. Your tests have proved that the Simplex will be a good all round detector at an amazingly low price. It will never be the best beach detector, but it will be a great choice for anyone wanting just one detector for land and beach use. Regards Bob.

Equinox vs Simplex+ in the water? Your oppinion?
@SandyToesDetecting
@SandyToesDetecting 4 жыл бұрын
i dont think the equinox is 3 times better because of 3x price. Equinox does suffer from leaks, I know 3 or 4 people directly that have had this. Time will tell on simplex but feeling I have is that they have nailed it. The scale on equinox is too compressed on ID's. Equinox has great screen and pinpointing. Simplex has great screen. Depth about the same as far as I can tell. Maybe a little more chatter from simplex on wet sand but very little in water. If I had to chose one, would be simplex and buy some other toys with the difference.
@samed2604
@samed2604 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for advice, this summer i used Equinox 800, i was very impresed by its performance in the water, found lots of gold and valuable stuff, but i was concerned for water leaks so i installed a silicon gasked in the handle bar, above the battery, and used a silicon case for external protection . I think the only advantage of Equinox is a Multy IQ, against the Simplex+, but it should not be a big thing in water detecting.
@SandyToesDetecting
@SandyToesDetecting 4 жыл бұрын
@@samed2604 Yes I think the silicon seal is essential on battery. Shame minelab did not do that bit so well. The outer case be careful the fine sand does not get trapped inside and scratch the body. Main reason I only use my own screen protector. I am not sure if the multiIQ improves things or not. Since you have machine, not sure it would be worth changing unless you need to free up some of your investment.

To remove the broken signal from the steel core in the coins just up the frequency to 18 khz or higher.
@SandyToesDetecting
@SandyToesDetecting 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure how you do that on the simplex+. Its fixed frequency at 12khz from what I understand. Only option is a frequency shift to stop interfering with other detectors.

@@rockybalboa_1976 The detector is semi automatic, you have to tell it to GB. The value depends on ground, in salt water is was sub 1, on beach depending how wet it all is under 5 to 15 ish.
