This is the first detector I bought this year when I got into detecting. I'm sort of mixed with this detector myself. It's found me some really cool stuff like tokens and coins, but I feel like I pull up more trash than anything with this detector. I've found if there is any big metal in the ground it picks it up as something good. I've dug bigger iron many times with this machine thinking it may be a dime or quarter. I think part of it is the number value on the vdi is very confusing because it jumps so much. I've pulled up big car parts in some places thinking it's a quarter with this machine. I would not recommend trying to coin shoot with this machine in high trash areas. However on the plus side this would be a fantastic detector for relic hunters. The all metal mode is really accurate for pinpointing and separation like you showed. Also this machine is super light. You can swing it all day and not get tired. Another awesome video! Do you know if there are other coils that can be attached to this besides the ones supplied?
@thehuntergt8 жыл бұрын
The big iron ringing up as a dime/quarter will happen with any detector...even my T2 or her F19. I find lifting the coil a few inches usually tells me what it is...not always of course. Round iron and washers will still ring up as silver range on many detectors. I agree that the All Metal mode it where this detector shines. Will be great for those "dig it all" type guys who want fast recovery speeds. I plan on putting it in P3 mode and hitting some parks that always give up the coins. Be interesting to see how it does. I hear it does go fairly deep to a $200 range detector and looking forward to putting it through the paces. Thanks for the awesome comment man...and thanks for watching.

I love your video. My brother just got me this for Christmas and I'm trying to learn how to use it. I did like you showed, I put it in disc mode and discriminated everything but 5C, 50C and $1 and I can't even get it to detect a 1/2 ounce of gold or 2oz of silver but it picks up an aluminum can. I am hoping I'm using it wrong but I think there is something wrong with it.
@thehuntergt6 жыл бұрын
Hello Jim. Try running it without the notches to see where the ID for each object it. Gold can come in from foil to zinc range....so it may have been notched out by accident. Silver can come in at dime and 25C range...so if those are out that could have been the issue.

NICE DEPTH and will do appx. 8" on a dime but it's lousy recovery speeds in DISC mode pretty much relegates it to hunting ball fields or battlefields where targets are much or most of the time(depending on the way and what the the site was used for), are far(ther) apart. GREAT for use as a relic detector though where close-together trash targets are not as much of an issue/problem and because, say with relic hunting, or individual target sampling isn't as difficult and time consuming unless in a high-trash field, as one would be looking for antique iron anyways and/or would not have to worry about high concentrations of trash next to 'goodies' but sometimes one does encounter this problem, even in wide open fields. Got rid of mine because my hunting has been primarily in parks, schoolyards, ball fields, and many other places where trash can be a huge problem and high recovery speed is a must so this model BH just doesn't cut it in the recovery speed department when set to DISC, just to try to disc out lots of foil and other trash in these much-frequented places (because) it is so slow on DISC. In the 70s and early 80s, one would've had the patience and maybe the time to dig anything and everything especially since most detectors were non-discrimination back then and only a few models had disc, starting for the most part, in the mid 70s with the Fisher and Garrett brands. BUT, (BUT), one also found (better) targets back then for their efforts too, so 'pick your poison', lol.
@thehuntergt7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree with you there man. The recovery speed in disc is not fantastic by any stretch. In All-Metal is is very fast and can hang with the best of them. The only thing that could balance out the slow speed is the unmasking capability. I found it to be very good on this Time Ranger. It could pass certain nails tests that new machines cannot. So if a user was to use a very slow sweep speed in a high trash area the unmasking can take over where separation is needed. I think a few keepers could be found anywhere with this machine as long as it is setup correctly.

I found your vid helpful as I was gifted a used Time Ranger and I downloaded the instruction manual. Nothing beats getting out and learning what it can do. A toy gun and a smashed harmonica, but hey A GUN !!! :)
@thehuntergt6 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video Phil! Congrats on the gun! I have yet to find one...real or toy. For finding places to hunt - I use Google maps. Being a park and school guy, I just look for any old park with BIG trees. Tells me it is probably old. Most cities and large towns have a WPA park at least...so chance of silver there. As far as the ground balance. You need to hold the coil in the air about 6-8 inches...then press until you hear that wobbly tone....THEN lower it to the ground. A high beep means pass - a low beep means fail and try again.

What setting would you recommend for a beach hunt focusing on silvers and golds? Program 4?

@thehuntergt7 жыл бұрын
Kevin Frampton I no longer have this detector sorry. Did a giveaway video for it months back. To ground balance place the coil 6 inches above the soil and then hold the all metal - pinoint button down for a few seconds until you hear that wonky tone. Then lower it to the soil and let go. Should hear a hight tone beep saying success...or a low tone saying try again. Best of luck with it!

I would start in the P3 mode and get used to all the 0-299 numbers and ranges on coins. Lay some coins out on the ground and become familiar with each one. That way you will not get frustrated finding too much trash. If you hear then hight one dig it. P4 will be the AM mode and will find "anything" but I would stay away from it until you learn P3-P2-P1 in that order.
