Jake looks like he can't get enough of running camera for Dan. Like he's on the verge of busting up in laughter waiting for the next gem of wisdom. Dan's like that guy you meet on a new job who's been around. He doesn't give a flip what the boss has to say, follow me kid we know what we're doing. The boss is always half irritated, but in the end he knows the old timer gets the job done when nobody else can.

Just want to thank you gents on behalf of all the MI hunters for bringing passion, integrity, and optimism to our State. We are a proud of our hunting here, and while it isn't easy, it's certainly rewarding. I also want to thank Aaron for his sentiments on your last podcast about how lucky we are to have a state with such rich tradition and diverse lands. Hopefully you can make it back next year!

That is absolutely amazing that you guys spent time with that young boy, you guys make more of a difference than you think to these young kids. Thank you for keeping the language clean and the content great as in not showing just the upside of hunting, soooooooo glad you guys show the downfalls and discouraging times. Spent quite a bit of time with Catman a few weeks ago at a public hunting area and I honestly dont think you guys understand how big of an influence you are not just to the younger generation but to some of the "seasoned" guys as well. Keep up the good work guys!!!

I live and hunt in Michigan. To harvest any animal on public ground is a true accomplishment. These Michigan deer are some of the smartest animals around. You either have to be really good or really lucky to harvest any mature animal buck or doe. Congrats Dan on the beautiful doe!! That venison will be some of the best you have had I promise.

I just watched a mountain lion episode on born and raised outdoors channel and it showed how a lion usually eats the heart and liver for its first meal and returns for the rest of the meat the following day or evening. I totally understand Dan's perspective. Sometimes you just have to draw first blood and get a deer down to get the party started and boost morale. I'm the same way. I will watch does, yearlings, and small bucks until I cannot stand it anymore and I Absolutely Have to get my hands bloody. Sorry for any squimesh individuals out there, but that's just how it is. I've got a bunch of Fridays off from work from now till November and I'm going to try to self film my hunts as much as possible. Nice big doe Dan and Thank You from the bottom of my heart for using lighted arrow nocks! Pass this on to your comrades.........USE LIGHTED NOCKS!! I think that Ted still hasn't got any. The expense of losing an arrow is well worth the cost of lighted nocks and it makes for much better camera footage so we can see the point of impact even if the camera angle isn't perfect. Great job guys, hope to see some more deer down.

Fellow Michigan hunters, if you consider yourself a "meat hunter" which there is nothing wrong with in slightest if i may add. Filling the freezer with a nice healthy doe can be done with a fair amount of effort and scouting. Fill a tag or two depending on which zone your in on a doe and let those 1 yr old bucks at the very least walk. One could argue a big 2 yr old might be as good as it gets where they hunt and id probably agree. However, we do have some nice ones public, private, even in our neighborhoods you can catch a pope and young size buck chasing a doe in November. Michigan has all the makings of being a big buck mecca and though thats not the most important thing about hunting, it sure is rewarding wrapping your hands around the bases of a bruiser buck. Good luck this season

I'm enjoying your hunts. The videos are clean and professionally edited without a lot of fluff. I like your style of hunting. While I hunt the same 200 acres with the same friends every season, I tend to "go off the reservation,'" meaning I don't always go the one of the tree stands. I look for little nooks and grannies that we've not hunted. Of course, if I take a nice buck there, a new stand goes up. But, my friends are generous and give me first refusal of the stand for a couple seasons. Then it's time to find a new location. Keep up the work.

Dan found a honey hole. That's some good looking habitat. Never heard or seen this guy until recently. I been hunting a long time and consider myself a good hunter and I can say without a doubt Dan is an experienced woodsman and a killer. This man knows deer and how to kill one. Good video. THP get up them trees. Hard to kill one on the ground with a bow. I have seen u do it but odds are much better off the ground. Good luck to yall.

Ronnie Hallmark if you’ve never heard of him before this i highly recommended you listening to The Hunting Beast podcast starting at episode 1. He’s also been a feature on many other podcasts as well. Also join Thehuntingbeast.com and browse through the forums. He’s been a silent celebrity in the whitetail world for several years now... he also hunts bear and turkey.

With regards to the dead yearling, it was most likely a bobcat kill. Coyotes shred even adult deer. Bobcats go for the throats for the kill and go from their, usually.
