Joe Gibbs, head coach of the Washington Redskins instituted a financial class for incoming rookies since they've never seen that much money before (yes, even after 50% taxes for schools and roads and innovation) and they blow it and go broke. The NFL discovered how successful that was that the NFL required all teams to conduct this financial training class for all incoming players. Rightfully so.

As a Charger fan, when MGordon held out then came back, Ekeler was on a great stat streak. Then HC Anthonly Lynn and his old boy network, welcomed Gordon and pushed Ekeler to the side. Losses mounted. Lynn favored HIS players. He did that with Herbert and Tyrod Taylor. Claimed when Taylor comes back healthy, he'll get is starting job back from Herbert. FO pressured him to say no way; Lynn got fired after the season. Lynn was a patsy.

There is a pool of money that every owner contributes to, this is negotiated by the players CBA, specifically for guys who arenr on star contracts. Just because he’s get $40k checks, that doesn’t include ALL the states/cities he play games at. For that, if the state has STATE INCOME tax, he’ll be taxed and will need to file for that particular state. End of the day, this is one of the reasons why athletes goes broke. Just because money is hitting their accounts, they don’t put enough aside to pay Uncle Sam when he comes knocking. He’s fortunate enough to have a good management team. Lmao ..... This dude became the guy he hated. Unreal. " My rent is college was 400. Now a 1 bed is 2300. Its crazy " skip to the very next breath " i got a duplex and am in real estate flipping houses ". Also if you got a 26 million dollar deal and lets just say half went to taxes. You walk away with 13 million. Thats retirement money. 4 mil x .05 in interest is 200k a year. You are still in the top 15% of earners. You are not broke unless you live an extravagant lifestyle or are bad with money and have more kids than nick cannon and tyreek hill combined. 13 million is FU money. You dont have to kiss peoples butt, clock in or worry about calling out sick because you will miss a days pay and possibly not make rent or the car note. You won at life . Retired before 36 years of age. Alot of people have money but no peace. All they know is work and get more money to feel adequate. Damn shame.

Their base salaries are earned during the 18-week regular season, with bonuses/incentives potentially paid at other times. Depending on the contract weeks a player is injured and not available they might not get that weekly check, Long term contracts can often have big numbers, but only part of it;s guaranteed. This is in contrast to the NBA, MLB, NHL that have guaranteed contracts. Taxes are paid on salary for games played in states with income taxes(nicknamed the jock tax). So, even if you live in state with no income tax. every state that has income tax that's an away game you have to pay taxes to that state.

Wish he still had a starting role. Redskins are 6-2 so I'm sure he doesn't care but still sucks.

Mid receiving back because he’s forsure not a running back wanting too much money I wanted the chargers to trade him so bad for so long you can tell he’s a fake person I can respect his work ethic though you don’t go from udfa to making the starting squad without that

@@bgorg1 you obviously don’t watch the games 188 rush yards and 1 touchdown in 7 games he has the same amount of touchdowns as fumbles in those 7 games and he gets stuffed as a runner very VERY often trust me the redskins will replace him soon

50% tax rate is unfair no matter who you are. If you are a professional athlete you worked your whole life to get there, suffered numerous serious injuries, beat out a hundred other guys, and it could all end in a moment. And they make chicken feed compared to the owners. The Dallas Cowboys have been valued at five BILLION dollars.

You forgot to mention all the other State income taxes he will need to file and pay. Whatever city/state he plays at and that state has a state income tax, he will need to file and pay. So potentially he will need to file taxes in 10+ states annually.
