Cade Reimer man you fr don’t respect music, Jazz is probably one of the most hardest genres of music to learn because you have to be so precise and know basically every scale and everything to do with theory, saying that jazz is trash basically says ur too lazy understand proper musicianship. And bruh if you understood the origins of jazz you’d understand that they weren’t bums, they were underpaid black labor workers that weren’t allowed to play music but every once in a while they would and that’s how jazz came around

I was in the first high school band to perform Whiplash at a major competition in 1973 at the Reno Jazz Festival. We got the arrangement from Stan Kenton who had rejected it for his band after they sight read it during a rehearsal in the summer of 1972. My dad (who was also my band director) was sitting in with the Kenton band during that rehearsal and was able to obtain it for us along with a copy of Fringe Benefit. We had a good band that year and were able to do a solid job performing it. It was a challenging piece but was lots of fun!

Yee; like, I get the idea of where you’re coming from and it’s respectful enough.. but to say someone or something has an unparalleled attribute assumes that nobody or nothing is comparable to said subject. This kid is likely better at drums than most, certainly better than me:/ Still, there are insanely skilled drummers who easily put this performance in the dirt. This kid probably only had about 1,000 hours *TOPS* to learn how to play like that. It’s a lot of time but hardly close to mastering something. There are probably people who have spent 30,000+ hours practicing drums. Fun fact: Books on statistics tend to say people need 10,000 hours of nonstop practicing before they’re considered a legitimate master at it:)
