That's the bike I tried to get with my iron 883 trade in...but unfortunately I couldn't afford it, so I looked around some more and they had a 2016 dyna low rider S for sale with 8k miles.. I took it home that day. Already had lucky daves bars, bassani 2-1, road warrior, LEDS all around, saddlemen step up and more.

Just the review I was looking for. I've been a performance bike rider for over 30yrs bored kz1000, 86 gsxr1100 (new) and various other bikes. Never been on a Harley and never had an interest other than vrod. I recently started looking at a 2017 vrod when the new low rider s caught my attention. Aftermarket support for the vrod has basically dried up. If I buy the 2017 I'm pretty much stuck with an as is bike. The low rider s with a stage 4 is definitely something I'm looking at. Literally on my way out the door to see one at dealer.

Nice. I actually own a V-Rid too. Check out the channel it’s videos on her. I was feeling just like you but I’m able to find stuff for her through the after market community and mine is an 04 and I love it. I actually like the dyna Low Rider S better than the softail but it’s a personal preference thing.

I bought one of those bikes 2 weeks ago. It's nice but it needs mods. In 1 more week...I'm having my Stage 4 kit installed, along with higher handlebar risers, and forward foot controls. I already swapped out the stock seat for one by Saddleman. The stock exhaust is too quiet and makes the bike sound like a sewing machine...I have an exhaust on order from 2 brothers. Looking into putting on a rubber washer or something to help reduce mirror vibrations at RPMs above 4K. One thing I do not like about the Low Rider S is the location of the gauges on the tank instead of on the bars closer to eye level. Taking the eyes off the road to look at the gauges really sucks in my humble opinion. The left fake gas cap is cheesey...ditto for the side reflectors. A couple of other nits: no cruise control or heated grips, no traction control...but at it does come with ABS. Maybe I will get a custom tank while moving the gauges (6 gallon?). Performance wise...the bike is controllable...and mild compared to a Triumph Rocket.

Firstly, love the spec of your bike. I’m looking at a LRS and think that forward controls would be better suited to me as I’m 6 ft 2 in. People say that the bike doesn’t handle as well when you change from mids. How have you found it?
@Bostonterrier97
@Bostonterrier97 3 жыл бұрын
@@mikep2099 Thank you....I'm 6'-0" but I have long legs. It is true that mid controls are better for cornering or standing up on the pegs when going over something. I put on the same forward foot controls that are on the sport glide as well as some risers for the handlebars; the Saddleman seat moves the butt about 3 inches closer to the tank and locks the body into a good position. because the body is closer, the forward foot controls aren't as far...in fact they feel like somewhere between the mid controls and the forward controls on the sport glide with a stock seat. I have been riding the bike now for 6 months...it's very comfortable and handles just fine. The Stage IV kit, and 2 Brothers Exhaust and an HD Extreme Heavy Breather Intake have all been worth the cost.

I agree Its a better bet than a high powered sport bike but I can't in good conscience recommend it to someone just out of the safety course or a beginner. This bike hauls ass and is VERY responsive to throttle input. If you are reading this be careful, its very likely you give it too much throttle in 1st gear, panic and then hit the front break and dump it and a slow speed. The handling is great and it will turn with ease but throttle control is everything. Smooth inputs only, a little throttle goes a long way. I came off a 250cc bike straight to this and it was a wakeup call. Breaks are great, handling great, ergonomics great but this is a medium weight cruiser than hauls ass, has to be treated with respect.

7:20 "throttle set up?" What the heck?...the throttle on the Low Rider S is by wire it sends a signal to the ECU it is not a cable directly connected to the throttle bodies. The sensitivity of the throttle position and response time is controlled by the software in the ECU. A different Cam shaft and larger throttle bodies can increase the amount of Fuel and Air going into the engine...the former allowing for valves to say open longer, the latter allowing for more turbulent air going into the combustion chamber. This bike is a V-Twin engine..its power curve to engine rpms is logrithmic in shape. An inline triple like a Triumph Rocket as a more linear power curve. An inline 4 engine like a Hayabusa or a liter bike, has an exponential power curve. So if you are a new rider...you want something that has a linear or logrithmic power curve and not too much torque...so the bike doesn't get away from you under acceleration. The Low Rider S with its stock exhaust and 114 CI engine is controllable and more forgiving for a new rider whereas liter bikes are very unforgiving when it comes to controlling the throttle, one slight mistake can cause a liter bike to spin the back tire or have the bike accelerate out of control causing the rider to crash. The stock low rider s is more controllable and forgiving, but it isn't a sport bike one can flick in and out of the twisties. It's a mild performance cruiser: it won't stop as fast nor will it take a turn as fast as a sport bike.

I disagree on the sport bike part if your referring to them being to powerful for beginners their's many options like the ninja 400 that would be a great beginner sport bike
@PkwyDrive13
@PkwyDrive13 4 жыл бұрын
True.. But most people don't consider a ninja 250/300/400 a real sport bike. I sure don't, but they're pretty much beginner sport bikes in terms of controls and ergonomics
@neji1496

@@PkwyDrive13 Why don't you consider it a sport bike? Is it the power?
@theinfinitryda

Gabriel Montero the tuck riding position is not a good riding position to master throttle control. An upright seating position is always going to be better for newer riders. In the tuck there is slight pressure on the wrist at times and if you don’t have good throttle control you can end up having a bad day a lot quicker on a sport bike but again this is my opinion and I’ve ridden every thing.
@neji1496
@neji1496 4 жыл бұрын
@@theinfinitryda that makes sense I thought you were saying what u said due to power also the ninja 400 has a more upright position and many reviews say its a great starter bike I started on a iron 883 it was not great it felt heavy and stiff also vibrates alot imo the best beginner bike is the one your most comfortable on

I'm going from a Ninja 400 to one of these. Ninja was a great starter. Seat was uncomfortable as shit though. And being 6'2" I was way too tall for it. I'm ready for the harley life.
