Here's something you rarely hear: it's okay to tell people in your life, even family, to take a hike when all they are doing is making you feel bad. My mom was manipulative, abusive, aggressive etc. I got anxiety from just being around her. I cut all ties with her about 7 years ago and I haven't missed her a second. You don't have to tolerate people in your life just because they are family. If they make your life miserable, get out.

Since we're giving sage advice here's something I always told my soldiers. In any situation if No is the worst thing that can happen, go get your No, you just might get a yes, and even if you do get a No that's no different than not trying. Just remember that No is always an option, if it wasn't then what you were asking wasn't a question it was an order and you don't have the right to order anyone to do anything.

False, you still get a lot of opportunities to find your dream job but of course many jobs required prerequisite including studying and also having some experience. And that is where mentorship and internship comes in. Since you have to start from somewhere and to build your experience. And then you can climb your way up the ladder but joining a club, organization, volunteer, or whatever can boost your chances to be higher and speaking a different language or even getting some skills will do you good for your resume. And it is very important to be optimistic. I see some people are being really pessimistic and being negative. However, it is important to keep your spirits up and that's the only way how you progress in life.

As a first semester college student, I'm totally agree. At beginning you start gives small task and more task (rather writing task or social task) daily. then you start feel like 'man this Tiring but I can manage' then after the mid test, the shitstorm of assignment start hitting hard like being hit by a magnet train. And you have to start working extra hard your practical assignment and your daily task and you don't have a choice. that you desperately do it anyway and count days to do final test. So that you can finally relax at least for a couple week before next semester. P.S sorry for bad typing. English isn't my mother language.

Not enough teachers talk to students about there mental health cause "it will all work out in the end anyway". Make sure you keep up with your friends from high-school. Even if you don't talk with them much? Give them a shout and make sure there ok. You'll be glad you did.

Me, grew up in an emotionally abusive family with emotionally abusive teachers who mocked me for my mental health struggles. School was beyond hellish and I had nobody. I fell in love with the sport of boxing and am on a path to do that as a career and only that. When life gives you the cold shoulder and kindness akin to an icy stare, you learn to breathe fire.

There are 3 different "high school sweetheart" couple in my family who are still together decades later. They are all genuinely happy together and very faithful to each other. I think it's because they're more like friends in so many regards, but the romantic love is still part of the equation. This may not be ultra common, but I've seen it happen. As an adult in my early twenties, I hardly dated and I only dated twice in my entire life. But I was never lucky with dating as a teen which doesn't mean I'm not likeable. And I had several rejections with some saying I'm not their type! But I would say keep going because you never know who could be your future spouse! And we all have different lives and is a good reminder not to be judged and if someone judges you too much just ditch that person and take care of your overall well being! Be around people who uplifts your spirit with positive encouragement not only in dating but with everything. And behavior is everything when it comes to dating.

I've had so many of my former students look me up over the years. I get invited to weddings, birthdays, baby showers, etc... We had a major tragedy at our high school and I was one of a handful of teachers who showed up and cried with the kids at a memorial service and hugged them. I was shocked at how few of my colleges could be bothered to take two hours out of their life to show they cared. But because I was willing to show my students my grief and pain over the loss, they felt like they could speak to me as a person and not view me as simply an authority figure. I guess I'm writing this to say that no matter how rough or tough a teen might seem, they're still just kids. A little vulnerability in the correct setting goes a long way to getting them to open up and trust that you care.

Speaking as someone who's first "proper" relationship was with someone 4 years older that me. He was definitely using me for something else. However, I am now in a relationship with someone who is 13yrs older than me, (we started properly dating when I was 18), he has always respected my boundaries, and although we were interested in each other when I was at school, he resected my choice to focus on school and we just spent the time getting to know each other. Overall I do not recommend that teenagers date someone who is older than them (by a couple of years) until they are at least 18. If you do find someone you like and they're older than you, they will wait. If they are interested in you as a person and are happy just talking and being friends, that's a good sign! You may end up dating them, or you could realize that you don't like them romantically. HOWEVER, if they aren't happy to wait and keep pushing, walk away!! That is a massive massive RED FLAG 🚩🚩 I wish I had known this earlier, so if any teenager is still reading this, remember it please.

I know many people engaged in high school and married right out of high school and now are happy, successful and very financially well-off. I am 18 and I gotta say all this is true. I got my heart broken when I was 17 and I have talked with some girls/ managed to get broken other times as well but it came to a point in which I did not care any longer if It happened again. Also, it is okay to fail. We are not designed to excel in everything and sometimes there are subjects we dont feel good at. I am lucky I have a brother who cares for me even why he is 6 years older. I would also have another brother older than me but suddenly he died young before I was born and I just recently discovered that. I still feel bad but I guess that is the way of life. I got another tip. Just be you. Don’t try to be like that cool kid and to fit in other groups. You do not have to change yourself in order for others to accept you. You are great as you are!

So far I've found the transition from high school to university really good for me. I really struggled with my mental health throughout high school but now I'm feeling much better. To anyone stressed in high school bc of older people saying that life just gets harder, just remind yourself that it's different for everyone. People who say that adulthood is worse, often peaked in high school and strived in those enclosed environments. When I was living with my aunt she always told me how lucky my cousin and I were and encouraged us to enjoy our teenage years while they lasted bc it only gets worse. During that time of my life I felt like I had no freedom, going to school and always having to be at the same spot each day. What I love about uni, is the freedom it gives you. I know it's stressful at times, but ultimately there's more freedom. In uni I'm able to see my girlfriend on weekends, work on school stuff wherever I want (for the most part), and see my friends as well. Yes there are more responsibilities and I know it's diff for everyone, but personally I find the world straight after high school is better, even though I know it will get financially more difficult down the road.

Being a teen was hard and stressful, but looking back I see that it was NOTHING compared to what you will have to face as ana adult. As an adult, there are times where you will have VERY few options. But as a teen, the world is completely open to you! Revel in that!

Are things I find true for myself. Heck, I only go out with two of my friends nowadays. They are the people who has something great going on with their life. One is my college classmate, and one is my college professor. Being with great people can impact you positively or negatively depends on your current perspective. Well, in this video, I feel that you’re talking to one particular group of people. I believe you’re referring to a group of teens that don’t have much work ethic in life. Some of us teens are highly creative and innovative. Some of us teens will change the world by the time we even turn 18, and we won’t need a miserable 9-5 job. I'll put it this way, I dropped out of high school, it just wasn't for me. I had a lot of trouble concentrating (which turned out to be misdiagnosed ADHD) and teachers did nothing except treat me as a nuisance. I dropped out of school at 15 and started working. As I earned money I paid to study courses that interested me, courses that would open doors for jobs I may like to do. I'm now 28, earning 6 figures through my main job and a side business. Which is much more than any teacher who told me I never would, will ever earn.

My only advice to teenagers would be, just live your own life. Don't spend too much time caring about what your friends are doing or where they're at, their lives aren't yours and they aren't going to pay your bills. Now when it comes to paying bills, try to find a way to make money that is enjoyable to you. If you don't enjoy it, it becomes a gruelling, repetitive, mind numbingly boring day to day task which eventually can manifest into things like depression (I've been there a few times). If you don't enjoy what you do on a daily basis, you won't enjoy your life to the extent it deserves to be enjoyed.

The first thing is very true, I spent 4 years in a high school marching band that was mediocre to bad because so many people didn't take it seriously and we're just there to hang out with their friends. I then did marching band in college and it was so different.

I wasn't the best student in high school and I graduated with a GPA of 1.5, but because of my peer advisor and keeping in touch with the Dean at the college I wanted to go to I was given a full scholarship to that school. That saying is true sometimes it's not what you know but WHO you know. Sometimes I still kind of feel bad that someone may have busted their butts in school and didn't get in because of me.

I've had multiple people tell me I'm weird for things I've done and some even tried to bully me. But all I could think of was me being weird for me amazing funny friends, kept my eyes open, and taught me to just try new things weird or not. I was around friends that were open minded and nothing was off the table and it gave me an exciting mind set. Now those kids that hated me for being weird work horrible jobs. I have a fun great paying job and I go on so many adventures with my "weird" friends. If I was "normal" I would not of had such an exciting life by the age of 23. We need to teach children it's okay to be weird and different. If you wanna go to a anime convention and dress up do it! Even as an adult people question me because my interest are weird but I'm out having fun while they are at home watching reruns on TV. It's never too late to bring out the weird child we all have in us. Be free and enjoy life!

Pro tip for elementary(1-8) Do everything you want, beat up kids, scam Pokemon cards, swear at teachers. As long as you don't get expelled or in major trouble do whatever you want. I didn't get back at my scammers, bullies or bad teachers. When I finally had the conscience to do so I was in online school. Lots of regrets.

Saying your love as a teen is not love is insulting and condescending! I’m 37 and have known 3 loves, at 16, 25, and 32. To say that my love was anything less at 16 than it was at 32 is just simply wrong. Each of those loves were very different in a few ways, but it was still very much so real love. I suspect that those that say teens can’t feel love were once teens that didn’t end up feeling love themselves and think that was universal. It’s not. The love felt as you age tends to deepen with maturity, and that may be why some feel that young love isn’t “real” love. Allow me a way to describe this idea visually. Think of love being water in a pool, and the point when someone is truly in love is when their head is just above the water. When you’re younger, and your head is barely above the water, the water is still pretty shallow. The level of the water from your own perspective is still very much almost going to drown you, but there just isn’t as much volume to it. As an adult, you can stand in much deeper water while keeping your head up, but again, from your perspective, the water level is the same on you as it was in your youth. With each drop of water in both of those scenarios comes another tiny piece of the things that make up love; feelings, life experiences, dating history, maturity, understanding your needs, and so on. The more water in the pool, the more nuance, but you are still experiencing the same feeling of the water lapping at your chin.

I would say don’t go to university or college after high school if you don’t know what you want to do yet. Don’t go just because all your friends are going/doing post secondary ed. Instead travel & work for a year or two, or a few years longer, to find something that you’re really interested in, and want to do as a a career. As well, it’s ok if you have more than one career in your life. If you want to be a dentist, you don’t have to be a dentist your whole life if something else crops up that you’re passionate about & dentistry now drags you down.

Get good grades for the knowledge, you will need that. As far as grades, mine were terrible and I didn't finish high school, and I clear 200k a year. Go after your interest professionally, but learn business. Money is freedom, and you will be limited getting paid hourly or on a salary. Own your own business and get paid for your value, not time. Grades only matter if you work for other people,

I made this mistake in high school and you all need to know not to do it: Don’t focus all or even mostly on work in high school. Instead, aim for middle grades like B’s and learn to communicate socially. Make a large friend group. Exercise and make yourself feel good. You can even date. Trust me, if you only focus on academics, once you get to college age you’ll become a depressed and lonely wreck like me. Don’t focus only on academics. Remember, how can a good job improve your life if you’re going to be alone and isolated the entire time?

In 6th grade I had a teacher who relentlessly teased me that I couldn't learn quick. I had minor brain damage and things were and still are hard to learn. I remember once in class I was trying to pay attention and he embarrassed me by saying "why are you staring at me like I have 3 heads??!!" He'd hit on the girls. His wife even came in yelling he cheated. In 7th grade I found a teacher how to reach me and became a honor roll student and got student of the month so I remember I stared him (6th grade teacher) down the whole time I was on stage as they were talking about my new accomplishments. That's how I learned to adapt and learn while having minor brain damage. Mr. Drouin was a huge nightmare

I’m a teen living in the Philippines, a 3rd world country, and I only have 1 thing to say, you don’t really have a choice, cuz if you’re not the best in your entire school and graduated from at least one of the top 10 schools in the country, you’re not getting an actual good job abroad, only labor of some kind. Trying to find work here in the homeland? Don’t make me laugh, the wages are so pitifully low that even nurses have trouble providing for only themselves, I’ve got a friend who’s parents are both neurosurgeons here and their way of living? Basically what’s considered common/average in the US. So for those of you 3rd world teens here, prioritize these when looking for a job: 1.) Can your grades and educational background get you into the job? 2.) how much does it pay? 3.) Do you enjoy it? These are the only 3 criteria, and you’ll have no choice but for passion to be on the bottom. Well, unless our government finally decides to do their job properly after literal decades.

The absolute truth is, nothing you do when you're under 18 in the USA will actually follow you for your entire life, unless it makes national headlines or something. I almost failed out of high school. I graduated with a 2.3 GPA. I wound up taking a college aptitude test a few years later and starting out in community college. I graduated from a state university a few years later, age 28, and even got accepted into Harvard for grad school, but couldn't go (they are in Boston, and I had kids at that point, I only applied to see if I could've gotten into my dream school). Now I have my MS in Economics and Finance, and working towards a PhD. I make 6 figures, which is great, because student loans lol. If you made ALL the mistakes as a teenager, you can still turn your life around!!! I had a super rough childhood and it just took me an extra few years to sort through all the trauma and be ready to move forward.

Doing things outside of school matters more than school. Jobs care more about the community service you did than if you graduated. You lose opportunities not having graduated highschool, but you don't lose much by not going to college. See the world and have fun, live creatively. Don't think you have to live like everyone else in society. There's plenty of other healthy ways to make money that isn't a 9 to 5. But you have to start now!
