Yes fighter pilots do eject sometimes at high altitude but 75000 feet is a little much more like 7500. And yes sometimes they do inject at high speed but more than not it's around 180 to 350 miles an hour.
@anastasiskalogirou51712 жыл бұрын

@deven65182 жыл бұрын
You forgot that ejections often ends a pilots career. First you're hit by winds of q few hundred mph in an instant. It's compression absorption differs at altitude but it's like hitting a brick wall. Depending on the speed, this may be fatal. The sudden shift from a pressurized cockpit and also cause eardrums to explode. Then you've got to avoid being hit by your plane, unlikely. The ejector seat itself is enough to break your back.

Did you take a look into actual reports of injuries sustained by pilots from ejecting? Your opinion is invalid, the real world has already proven me right. It seems my 2 brain cells are 2 more than you have.

Fighter jet pilots have seldom ejected at 65,000 feet. That's the upper altitude that they can fly at. Most ejections occur at near sea level in carrier mishaps. Combat missions are seldom over 30,000 feet and are usually much lower.
@Evergreen14002 жыл бұрын
Thank you I didn’t want to be the one to say that. The U2 has a 70,000ft flight ceiling most aircraft get nowhere near that as you said.

I would assume it is tied to airspeed/momentum but I don't actually know. If it would deploy while the seat is still going up it would fold in on itself and if you eject out of a jet flying upwards a simple timer wouldn't do. Same with going downward, you'd hit the ground before the chute deployed so I guess whenever it senses you are going down it deploys? That'd mean the answer to your question is, it depends
@DefinitelyNotAnOsprey2 жыл бұрын
Not too long, but you also don't fall very fast in comparison to how much time you have to pull your chute. The real trick is pulling it at the right time so you don't have to circle your LZ.

The amount of gs a fighter pilot experiences when ejecting from the jet is so powerful it can compress their spine. It's more common to have minor injury's and return to flying immediately after ejection than people may think. In the past ejecting was a different situation than it is currently, this is the info on the Aces 2 ejection seat, and they now are using the Aces 3 which is newer and uses a computer to analyze wind speed,angle, altitude, the weight of the pilot and other useful information to adjust for the amount of force.- ACES II seat ejection injury rate is one of the lowest in the world as proven in over 600 live ejections. Back injury rates occur in only 1% of ACES ejections compared to 20% to 40% in most other ejection seats.

65,000 ft? You'd pass out at 10,000ft without oxygen, the ceiling for an f-16 is only 50,000ft I think he meant 6,500 ft though, more of a normal range. Also, about the 65 year old, the story was he was in the backseat of I think f-16 or f-18 I don't remember, and they were doing a high-g maneuver. The guy was beginning to come out of his seat a little, so he grabbed onto the ejection handle by accident out of reaction. The front canopy was blown off, but only the back seat ejected and the plane landed safely. The guy is ok btw.
