Mate you may know it as Petrich Incident, it is known for people who are listening in 10 grade history classes. It is kinda big deal because it is one example of good politics from Bulgarian side and good use of UN.

One reason for that was the incursions of gangs of Komitadjis from Bulgaria towards Greece. Oh well, a huge mishap by the then greek dictator...

In 1976 the United States and North Korea almost went to war over a poplar tree. A couple of American servicemen were ordered to cut down a tree on the DMZ that was obstructing the view. North Korean forces murdered those servicemen. Then the United States readied its military for war and did a large troop build up while also sending a few more soldiers out to take care of the tree.
