As an owner of a Solar scooter for over 1year now, i just want to add my tricks/knowledge for better range. 1. Keep it always on dual motor as it spreads the power equally on both motor s and this way will save more energy rather then putting all the effort on one. 2. Always have your electric breaks set on the highest, this way every time you break it will generate power back. (Especially when you go downhill use the momentum to generate power back rather then going full speed down) 3. This 3rd one is a weird one but it works for me, I keep my scooters specs on its highest so- gear 3/dual motor/ turbo, this way you can ride fast only when need it and not accelerate constantly, so it gives you a momentum to keep the scooter going,,, trust me its still fun and you will get longer range plus remember the road its not always flat you may have lots of downhills so not much power needed

I can tell you why your scooter died because it happened to me all the time just as you described on my Zero 10x 60V. It's a controller overheat when you ride hard. It's got a safety that temporarily shuts off the controller for about 5-10 min if the temp gets to high to protect it against burning up. My vendor kept sending me new controllers but they all did this. So in the end they let me return it. Apparently I ride too hard for that type of controller and they could not mitigate the problem. I ended up getting a Nami Burn-e instead which has the controllers on the outside (more cooling) and they are overrated for a wapping 100Amps (less likely to overheat). Also the programming on overheat makes them go into a lower performance mode rather than shut off. And yea, this goes for all scooters, with luck, you're only going to get half the rated range if you ride hard (AKA normal). For the advertised range you have to go 15mph max, no hills, no stops, with tail wind, which is ridiculous. In a few months, the range will settle well below half advertised after you ware the battery a bit.

Do not charge full. That why I recommend people buying escooter before all in for ev. The battery should be always between 20% to 80% to preserve battery life. If you do 100% - 5% each cycle, you only get 50-100 cycles then the battery dead. You do 20 to 80 you have 500+ cycles. I daily commute on my electric unicycle for over a year now and it range is very slightly decreased becoz I learned the lesson from my previous ebike/escooter. I fully charged my escooter it can go 25 miles. I charged it up and let it sit for 1 month. It can go 20 now. I permanently lost 20% range. My euc was broken and I left it at 60% while waiting for parts. A month later I got exactly the same range as before. My point is any battery powered vehicle has the usable range 60% of advertised range and it's in ideal situation. I would say Tesla mode 3 claims to have 300 mile range, but the real range you can use daily in a charge is only 300x 40% = 120 mile. It's less than 2 hours driving. You left home at 80% so it's 240 mile range. You charge it when it's close to 20% so no lower than 60 mile. Computer range is 240-60=180. Then you use Bluetooth AC driving a bit faster like 75mph, the real range is only 120-140. So no ev for me. Waiting for a 600 mile range ev under 50k USD hopefully in 10 years but I lose faith in humanity already

@@TomkatzEnt I got a 350watt Gear E Bike with ,2000watt Gearless DD Turbo Boost Accelerator I use to double up my cruise control to 40mph. But overall I've learned top speed is an obstacle of overall safety and hardware abuse( regular 2 inch bike tires not really used to go consistent top speed as they end up of the pressure being abused when riding over rough terrain of the roads, even turning with throttle pushed puts stress on bike tube of the inner sleeve of rim as rotation off throttle puts serious pressure on sides of tires. I know because happen to me 3 times of same area and over use of throttle,) I now ride E bike when encountering the bumps, dips, potholes , curb entry driveways the same as a Car of easing up all the time( we don't speed in cars the same way of bikes, lol) And yeah, you wipe out going 20mph and higher you best have motorcycle helmet over plastic bike cap. I only go full speed on long straightaway path of destination or to ensure power of top speed is fitted for use of pulling extra cargo weight like how I do use. You can't ride around e bike the same way you would with regular bike as we as kids rode thru anything and everything of no concern, but it was using just pedals. It's more then having e bike of going fast, it is more like knowing your e bike or scooter of high speeds creates more abuse on the parts of the e bike or scooter. For tires, anything around 2 inches width you must approach the use of speed of maintaining your bike from getting abused to avoid replacing parts on bikes as in the tires is the majority of the e bikes unless the tires are 3 to 4 inches wide which is pretty much the standard of the use. Nothing wrong if ya stuck with 2 inch tires, you jus need to Ride more cautious overall of avoiding certain times of using top speed. Stay safe and aware , all of US

That is a great scooter, I have almost the exact same, a little less extras yet the rest is clearly the same. I have had it for close to a year now and I am still amazed how powerful it is and as importantly, it can go everywhere a car can go, and then some, down some stairs for instance hehe. I even used it this winter on ice and snow here in Norway. 60 mph though, I am not so sure about that, it may go that fast yet then you certainly will need to change tires and preferably add a steering dampener, otherwise you are going to crash as it looses stability due to wheel wobble at around 50 km/h. It may go that fast if you are light and crazy and also change to street tires and mount steering dampeners, I would not recommend it though. The fastest I have ridden it is 80 km/h. Normally I cruise comfortably at around 30 to 40 km/h.

Problem is, at 60mph you can't easily spot pot holes, and with those small wheels you will basically die if you hit one.

I came upon an accident that involved an E-scooter and a pickup truck a couple of weeks ago. The pickup was leaving an apartment complex and the young guy on the E-scooter was coming down the sidewalk and apparently crashed trying to avoid the pickup truck. The scooter guy slammed his head into the curb of the driveway where it flares to meet the street. He was unconscious and had a huge bloody lump above his right eye. No helmet. By the size of the egg shaped lump on his skull he looked to be in a bad way. I flagged down a car and they called 911 and luckily a nurse stopped and help lend her expertise to make sure no one moved him. I have no idea how this poor guy ended up but hopefully he is okay. With those little wheels they sure are dangerous.

I've been riding bikes since age 5. Long time motorcyclist, MSF instructor. 60mph on that??!!! That's a certified suicycle.

Range estimates are generally inflated due to low speeds and ideal conditions. Real world you can expect 40-70% of the claimed range depending on rider weight, speed, environmental conditions, and battery cell quality.

Yea after I came across this brand, Solar, and watching ur videos of the Solar FF & also the Solar P1 2.0 I'm definitely gonna b looking at buying the P1 2.0 before summer next year to upgrade from my budget e scooter (Aovo Pro) because I need more speed now 🤣🛴💨 and really cud do with an e scooter with suspension too as there's just so many potholes on some UK roads. Plus, from what I've seen about Solar they are a really good e scooter company with great customer service and their stuff is really good quality. Can't wait to get 1 now. 🤘🏼😜👍🏼

Regarding the range, I appreciate you going all out, but could you also include a more conservative riding style too. It would be interesting to see if you can get close to the 50 mile claimed range.

I normaly expect my peers on the bike lane to run slower than 35 km/h, thats why bike lanes are separated from car lanes: you do not want to be hit by someone running really fast.

Solar isn’t a power source but a charging source. A solar (sun) charged scooter would still run off of batteries

Wouldn't the range depend on the load weight as well? The heavier the passenger, the lower the range... I'd bet they do ranges on a dynamometer with little to no weight on it.

Definitely!!

You paid almost 2,000 dollars for that? You can get a Honda Navi motorcycle for $1,800 could go anywhere, even off road. However that would required to you pass motorcycles written and drivers test. Ohio, on stand up scooters the maximum speed allowed is 20 mph, you must stay on sidewalks, in bike lanes, or ride near the curb like a bicycle and follow all traffic laws. You cannot ride in the middle of a traffic lane, speed and if your stopped, you risk the e-scooter being seized under section 59 of the Police Reform Act. As speed, injuries and deaths on e scooters increase, they will be banned from public roads, like two states have already.
@Rachiou0772 жыл бұрын
I hope one day you ride one of the racer scooters for just a fun little test. That would be something I would stay up for just to watch since the day you've got that chinese electric motorcycle that you've tuned with better parts.
