I wish that they would install some of these chargers at interstate highway rest areas. It is really aggravating to have to drive up to ten miles just to access a charger.

@@raypabs5374That's actually due to an old insterstate law that prohibits them, pushed by local commerce groups back in the day, and they still exist pushing politicians to keep it. So it's political. People need go after their politicians to change it. States like NJ gets around it by having INTRA -state PAID highways like the NJ Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway.

@@raypabs5374 Maryland House rents space in their food court, so it's a no-brainer that they would add chargers, especially since EV demand per capita is greater there than just about anywhere else on the east coast. You can't get on the beltway these days and not see EVs.

Had an unusual charging scenario a couple days ago. I stopped at a 150 kilowatt Electrify America station with about 13% battery and was not able to precondition but I ended up getting the fastest charging I've had the whole time I've had my Ioniq 5. Got up to 187 KW and went from 13% to 85% in about 30 minutes. Outdoor ambient temps were in the mid 50s

As someone who charged twice at EA stations with only 4 spots today, holy crap we need these. Waiting is nightmare and availability is only getting worse with more EVs on the road.

YAY! I hope IONNA will roll out its DCFC sites quickly and reliably! I wonder if those automakers equally share the costs, or are they distributed according to company size…? Maybe Ioniq 5 owners should pull in frontwards, and extend the cable to the passenger side back of the car…? I agree that the stalls should have two screens, one for each cable. Happy Holidays to you! 🎄

Thanks for the update, and especially the info about the reach of the cable. It sure seemed from other videos that it could go across to the other side. And no one else pointed out that there's only one screen. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that your videos could have more light in the background? It kind of looks like you're reporting from a basement with a single lightbulb. Anyway, too bad about the flat! I had an AWD Subaru, and if there was any significant wear, I had to replace all four tires if a single one went bad. Was that your experience?

Surprised that you could not reach the port on the far side rear while still in the stall. It looked like there was plenty of cable. I'll have to check that out the next time I am at an IONNA site. The side mounting might be for protection from direct sunlight. Only having one I am sure is a cost control thing. I know folks love plug and charge, but I would be happy if all sites had working card readers. Then, I would not need all the apps and subscriptions. I love road trip videos. Looking forward to the one on this trip.

I wish automakers and charging stations could agree on some standard for port door placement. It seems like charging stations mostly have the equipment at the back of a parking space, or where you normally have the front of the car. Thus, you have a lot of people backing in, which seems awkward and potentially invites a lot of fender benders. I know this is a minor issue, but the fact is that we don't have to think in terms of gas caps... Amirite or just a nudge?
@AaronAverett27 минут бұрын
So, is the stop button on the charger available to just anyone who walks up to it? What's stopping a malicious actor (say, an impatient Uber driver in an ID.4) from walking up to the charger and stopping your charging session while you're inside the building?

@@TheIoniqGuyyeah but you’re at the peak of EV demand right now and as soon as the EV credit goes away it’s going to cause demand to collapse. I know a bunch of people who only ended up getting an EV because of the incentives. Not to mention, both power companies as well as manufacturers like Ford with their Power Promise are incentivizing charging at home. Things like this will be far and few between. Manufacturers are about to lose incentives to build EVs anyway and will slow development of new vehicles because of both drop in demand since the credit will be gone as well being incentivized to build more ICE vehicles. At least in the US I think we are about at the peak of EV demand and it will be that way for a while until things either get cheaper or the government gets its head out of its butt. Most people can’t afford 50k for a car and that’s about the average for vehicles including ICE vehicles. There are just more used and cheap ICE vehicles available so the average person will lean towards those.

@@TheIoniqGuy Trying to keep breakage and repairs to a minimum as in a few years CCS will be extinct. If you link the CCS to a stall via a magic dock it can still break rendering that stall useless and you have to move your car.
