well I think after Joel killed the head surgeon and there leader I guess the fireflys had no idea they could of made a plan to take Ellie from joel but there head surgeon is dead and they couldn't find a way to do surgery and they give up on trying to find a cure learning they wasted 20 years finding cured that didn't work and they become more like the hunters and bandits and many more hostile survivor's and that's what I think happened to the fireflys

With the game released. Nothing much is said about the Fireflies, just simple references and nothing else. It’s best to say the Fireflies spliced and one group became the WLFs. Only a small pocket of Fireflies exist.

I think the fireflies split into two groups some going north and others south based on the story. The ones going north split some joining the WLF and seraphites while those going south stayed together but changed their name

SirJohn there’s still the supposed compound and as we know from when u find the firefly barracks there were still an couple bases. And from the guy on the radio the bases were abandoned and they went to hq. so the fireflies were still an strong group an while after the hospital. And this is only on the west who knows what happen in the east.

Yeah she did. Whether or not we take the Catalina island thing at the end of the game seriously is up to us. I personally would like to believe what we saw and heard of the fireflies in part II was just concentrated to those areas and that they are still as present as they ever were in the rest of the country. But I guess we’ll never know
