Every time I hear her voice, it makes me happy and sad at the same time. Such a loss when she died from anorexia, and that she didnt see herself the way the rest of us saw her as a beautiful person inside and out. I was a metal head who couldn't help but love the Carpenters for the sheer talent they had.

Watching her roll her eyes when the harmonies first bloom and then her complete pleasure as she falls into Karens ".. to run" is everything I have felt everytime I hear the woman sing. Thank you. It is a joy to see it so plainly on another persons face. Keep up the great work.

She had the voice of an angel👍🏻🎶she was a talented drummer 🥁 Richard also very talented

Karen had a three-octave contralto vocal range and she skipped the whole distracting vocal gymnastics that are far too common with today's singers [ I am look at you Xtina] - just pure tone and control

She was one of a kind, listening to their music was a part of my youth. Karen Carpenter's voice was unique and beautiful rolled into one. I mourned her passing. Thank you for appreciating her soul and voice as much as I did. Shy and awkward. She was so much more than she Ever knew.❤💔

Karen was a drummer before she was a singer. Excellent at both. Such a loss. I grew up listening to them...like the soundtrack of my youth

It's amazing to think Karen actually thought she wasn't a very good singer and had to be talked into it. There is a documentary on them that ends sadly in Karen's passing after her struggles with anorexia which caused a heart condition.

Whenever I hear this song I automatically tear up, because it is so beautiful. Karen’s angelic voice has that effect on me and together with her brother Richard, this song has some of the greatest harmonies.

Out of all the Crazy Rock, I always had the Carpenters in my back pocket to bring me that Peace and Tranquil feeling only they could. Glad they do it to you too.

It's fantastic that the both of you are excited about The Carpenters. Richard is such an amazing talent for writing, arranging and orchestrating and Karen's voice...absolutely amazing. Yet she always considered herself to be a drummer who happens to sing. I've been listening to The Carpenters for over 50 years now. I can never tire listening to them and Her!

Karen and Richard just couldn't make a bad song. I feel blessed to have shared the planet with them. Their music was so powerful, and beautiful, and majestic. My parents AND grandparents were fans. If you ever have difficulty melting butter; put on a Carpenters record and let Karen's voice do it for you... Greatest Hits, YEAH. Every single song!

I LOVE The Carpenters! My mom had their greatest hits album & I had to hear it a lot in the late 70's & 80's. They always remind me of her. RIP 10-26-1987.

J's comment about how this song made him think about your relationship really hit home for me. When this song came out my husband and I were in out late teens and soooo in love. Our relationship turned out to be quite the rollercoaster ride, but 50 years later we are still together and this song is still relevant. Thanks for such a sweet reaction.

I also heard that she wanted to pull out of her wedding a day or two before, but her mother basically coerced her into going along with the marriage. Her husband was NOT good to her..

Being a former clarinetist I have a soft spot for the clarinet in this song. My favorite part with the clarinet is at the end when the C# (D# on Bb clarinet) is held out and becomes the root of the final chord (C# major). I can't recall the theory behind it right now so I'll just say it's a pleasant surprise. Richard was right to realize this was a hit after hearing it in a Crocker Bank commercial. Speaking of Richard, I'm glad you acknowledged him as he was the genius behind their sound. His arrangements went hand in hand with Karen's vocals. They needed each other to be great.
