Yep just watched the hand and came to see if anyone commented. Laak was super suspicious with the talking but even with that, it's a tough lay down. Great fold.

So why is Phil Laak raising the flop with AJss and then pot betting the turn? What are we trying to accomplish? Get value from.... nothing? Force out all the draws we want to continue? Were also never folding out a better hand. never going to fold this hand if raised on the turn but I think it's just a pretty clear check to the river.
@mrx71813 жыл бұрын
@Kody Stutzman I like your reasons for a bet but Phil doesn't have the strongest hands on this board if we make some pretty safe assumptions about him preflop. I guess the only better hands he has than ace jack are AQ at a low frequency and some aces up combinations so this bet is pretty reasonable I'd just like to see a smaller size used if we are betting for the reasons you're listing. Great response nonetheless I enjoyed reading a counter argument it was just a pretty confusing bet to me at first glance.

@Kody Stutzman You're correct about the solver mixing between large bets and checks on these types of boards as the IPP. I know it applies especially to boards like KT48 two tone or QJ67 two tone where those 1/3 or 1/2 pot sizings just aren't aren't a thing for the IPP facing check but on AK42 or whatever it was I'd love to see if it's the same type of mix but with different frequencies because of the fact that Phil never has the very very top end of the range while the OOPP can have them a decent amount. In other words I would never use this type of large sizing on a board where I know I'm so disadvantaged in the nuts but I'm wondering if it's still the optimal strategy to be mixing that type of sizing and a check.
