It was an absolute blast to see these old timey cars puttering through London. The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is the world's longest-running motoring event. All the car participating were built before 1905. Well worth freezing at 7am on a Sunday for your footage😂. In the background you can see Big Ben so you can see the time at which the footage was filmed.

The car at 16:00 (reg number AW38) is entirely run and maintained by students from Imperial College. I was one of the co drivers and took part in this event back in 2007-2010. I was never dedicated enough to be the actual driver though!

Y66 is owned by a former Imperial student who worked on Bo and then bought his own vintage car so he could keep on doing the brighton run.

Ha I never knew that! Just looked up the owner and I remember him well. He graduated before I joined but regularly popped in and helped out.

Judging by the age of some of these drivers they might be the first car they ever owned :p

it's crazy to see just how far cars have come since these things were new. It really must've been a trip back then to see this thing puttering down the road, since horseless carriage is really the best way to describe it

I love cars like this, they have a heart and soul to them, they’ve certainly got more character than modern cars.

What a treat! Thank You! As we all can see, there was no rain in the UK 100y ago, no windshield or roof needed. So wonderful cars I almost wish it was 1920 for a day :)

This would be great! Unfortunately, in Eastern Germany more and more people tend to wish it was 1933 again... Shocking!

They should mass produce these old timey vehicles just with modern parts. There's a fortune to be made here.

That sky reminds me of the Pittsburgh, PA, sky - though in Pittsburgh it can be that same horizon-to-horizon grey for months at a time. Wonderful contraptions / layouts that I've never seen before; seems like some of those general designs either weren't common, weren't saved, or were never built in the USA. Love the Old FART truck at 11:05.

The car at 4:12 is owned by Duncan Pittaway, of the Fiat S76 fame... Mr. Pittaway is at the back, apparently tending to the boiler (it's a steam-powered car)

Man I'm annoyed I didn't see this sooner, I happen to know one of the volunteers for the meet and even went up to London with them last year, but decided against doing it again because of how early in the day it would be. At least seeing the video in my feed made me feel like I made the right choice, weird as it sounds.
