Maybe this will help with identifying the year 1939 Chevrolet dashboard has round gauges and the 1940 has a rectangle gauge cluster.

I have almost everything you need for your truck. I am in Columbia Missouri. I think I have an I.D. tag and title also. I have hood, fenders, grille shell and grille, running boards, engine and much more.

I know for a fact up to 38 Chevrolet had no serial numbers on the frame. only the tag on the Cowell. It was held in place with two clutch head screws. In Idaho if you don't have a plate DMV will issue a new number.Ive ben through it twice with the state. you can actually buy replacement plates on line.

Your jack is the original tool kit jack. The handle doubles as a tire tool. The handle is much harder to find than the jack. The starting crank looks original also.

I posted to your original video and also sent an email to your website. Your truck is a 1939 Chevy. I have lots of stuff you need for it. I am in Central Missouri. There should be a tag on the RH side ofd the cowl where the hood would cover it. I can tell you everything you want to know from the tag if it is there.

@@dyamariv3628 You are correct that I posted before watching the entire video. My mistake. I posted to his first video and told him that it is a 1939 Chevy so I was surprised to see him with a new vid where he is asking for info.

Id build it anyway and find a title that somewhat matches that type of truck nobody is going to car to even look

I’m sorry to hear that you don’t have a serial number plate on it. In Virginia it is illegal to swap them from one vehicle to another, period! And a Title is definitely a MUST HAVE. A bill of sale is worthless here. Hopefully things will work themselves out for you and the truck.

Judging by the dash and hood sides it's a 1939 Chevy as shown in the B&W photo at the end of your video. It would have had the short stainless strips at the top sides of the grille which did not go all the way back to the hood side and a stainless grill with 17 big horizontal strips. In 1940 the the side strips went back to the hood side and grille had 16 strips with a deeper top piece. The dash was totally different with a rectangular gauge cluster. That Grill is a 1983 GMC though. I have a 1983 Chevy 1/2 ton and can say without a doubt it's not a 1938 Chevy.

I believe you have a Canadian Mapleleaf. They are very similar to the GMC. I have a 37 GMC and your truck is similar. I noticed that it has a closed drive shaft were as mine is an open drive shaft

I'm not an expert on trucks but I do believe that the GMC's of that era used a flathead six engine. My guess is that you have a 39-40 Chevrolet truck.

Would not have been a flathead six
@37silverstreak14 ай бұрын
@@mechanic72 Before the 1939 model year GMC used a flathead six engine. Google it! in 1939 they went to an OHV six engine.

I'm no expert by any means but I can say with certainty that if a chevy dually was over 1.5 ton, they had the gmc grill with the chevy side panels, so I'm guessing you have a 39 chevy 3.5 ton, someone with more knowledge can verify this, and no, 39 and on to 46 had the twin windshield 17:00
@ronevans47724 ай бұрын
my 48 gmc had twin windshields.

Just off memory, doesn't the frame VIN trump all vin's?? Just cause they took a panel off the fender, doesn't make it that truck. I'd check with your local DMV on this before you decide to use it as a parts truck. It's also possible that someone just took that plate to hang in a shop cause it looks cool. Plz find the frame VIN and dig a little further to see if it's even been registered. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE drop all other projects and only work on this truck from now on.. 😉 It's just too cool to let it sit around!

By the grill that's a chevy not gmc. My guess is 38-40 or 41 maybe.should be a tag on the Cowell left side.

Ahh but, don't forget....this could be a 1946 'HARRY' or a 'ROBERT' or anything else you wanted to name your 'one-off' truck manufactured by the still very active then custom coach builders! Could have been a 'Bailey body' or a 'Fleetwood body', etc; etc. Jus' say'n.
