I start my no spend on Black Friday morning and ends the following year on Black Friday. I don’t eat out I make my food and coffee at home, when I have doctor’s appointments all day I bring a lunch and lots of water in a cooler. I make everything from scratch even my bread from wheat berries, I find that now that I don’t eat outside the house these last 3 years I haven’t been sick with stomach issues. I control what goes into my food and save money, it’s a win, win.

Back in 2021 I did a no spend January that turned into 6 months very quickly. I was also doing a deep declutter both of these combined showed me the items I truly valued. It wasn't until I got a new job in Aug 2021 that I allowed myself some new tops for interviews & that new job. This was also when I realized that I'm comfortable in a graphic tee & hoodie, but I feel sexy in my court clothes. You find yourself when you challenge yourself.

I will be starting my first ever no spend January 1st of 25. I actually really enjoy scratch cooking and make it instead of buy it challenges. I've been able to replace items I would normally spend a great deal on week over week with cheaper homade, and usually tastier and healthier versions this way. I'm not good at saying no.......to myself or the kids, I mean the money is there, what does it really hurt, right. I want to change my mindset permanently. I find we are in a constant cycle of donating clothes and other items to local charities. Donating no longer used items is, of course great, but the fact we donate almost monthly tells me we need to get control over our spending. Most of my friends do a huge whole home clean out and donation biannual. Doing it this much means we are purchasing stuff we do not really need, and ultimately quickly get rid of. My other overall goal is getting a real emergency fund built up for my family, and teaching my children and myself to be more fiscally responsible.

I'm doing a no spend month in January. I've moved to a bigger house so all my expenses have gone up and I need to stash a higher emergency fund, and I've got holidays planned so I need the cash to pay for everything up front! Hopefully we can all keep each other motivated!

I’ve been trying to cut down my spending for awhile now, but I think this idea of a no spend month is great. I am going to try it in January 2025. Another “ month” idea is to not spend on one cycle of my one credit card that I use more for my”wants”. I have another credit card that is for my “needs”. It just would be another way of counting a month in time vs a calendar month. If this works well, I will do it on some other months this year as well. 🤞🤞🤞 Thank you for the great tips! I am saving this video for sure.

I think I might give it a try. I’ve noticed I’ve been mindlessly spending money and this would be a good opportunity to curb it and get on track. Thank you for the advice.

I think I will try it in January. Thats a good month to try one. Like you said, I'll need to think it through and prepare my mind. Eating out will be the hardest.

I am wanting to do a no spend Jan., however I have a dear friend coming to visit for a few days. I think i will start my no spend the day after she leaves. I did a no spend last Jan. I liked the challange. I had a couple bumps in the road but overall it was good. I want to do this to be able to pay down debt! It is great support to know others are doing it too. I hope you will do more posts on this throughout the month. We can all journey together and share thoughts and ideas! I LOVE your decluttering advice!!!

Im happy to see I wont be the only one aiming for a no-spend month/year. I have had enough scrimping & going without so Im going to encourge my 3 grown daughters to join me too. I hope to continue decluttering too. Good luck everyone 😊

I had planned to do a no spend month/low spend year. I like the plan to write down all the items and costs to see how much money was saved. Thank you!
