the original is a powerful story. It's interesting in that it's a reverse damsel in distress. Instead of the guy saving the girl, the girl saves the guy. Now pay attention too to the symbolism. Something happens to corrupt the boy and turn him hostile. He ends up alone.. in an icy prison lost in the pursuit of reason and logic.. no connection. to anyone really. However though the girl's efforts she is able to pull him back.. this time instead of childhood friends.. lovers as the formation of the pair bond breaks the spell. Now examine the world around you and see how this sort of thing plays out.

@owengreig10883 жыл бұрын
The original story says that the prince "got up" and let Gerda sleep in his bed, indicating that he was being a gentleman rather than creepy.
@kiddfaith43972 жыл бұрын
At least he got out of the bed first, Lol. That’s nothing compared to the original Snow White, where the Prince fell in love with and planned to marry a corpse, until his servants got clumsy and dropped her coffin, knocking the poisoned apple chunk from her throat. Or one of the original versions of Sleeping Beauty, where what woke her was labour pains long after the prince married her, took her to his room, and knocked her unconscious body up. Or how the Little Mermaid saw her betrayer of a prince sleeping with another woman, but she still loved him so much she let herself fall to the curse, and became seafoam, to forevermore lap at the bow of his ships. There’s even a fairy tale where a girl who can’t talk or show emotion for seven years (as part of a spell to free her brothers, turned into birds), is married to a prince who literally just spots her on an outing, picks her up and rides off with her. Every night after the girl gives birth, the evil stepmother brutally kills her baby and spreads some of the blood around the girl’s mouth to convince the prince his wife is eating her own babies. Since she can’t speak to tell the truth, or even look upset, the prince eventually believes the lie (many dead babies later) and the girl is sent to execution, after time in the dungeon. This just happens to be on the last day of the seven years, and as the axe is raised her bird brothers swoop down and into the shirts she’d been weaving all those seven years. The stepmother is revealed and executed instead, and the girl lives on with her prince. Of course, that’s still too happy an ending, so the tale just had to leave one of the sleeves incomplete, so one of her seven bros was left permanently with one bird wing instead of an arm for the rest of his life. The prince giving Gerda his bed for the night is surprisingly wholesome.

While you were telling the story I actually realized that I had heard this story multiple times while growing up. I'm German and I used to have a set of Hans Christian Anderson's Stories as audiobooks and I think there was even a movie of this specific story. I kept vividly remembering what the environment looked like in the movie. Another thing I realized while writing this, is that they used to show his movie on a certain channel around Christmas time but I think they stopped showing them maybe 10 years ago. There is absolutely no exact reason as to why I'm writing this. I just thought it was really weird and interesting that I used to watch and love these kinda terrifying stories and remembered all of this by watching a random KZbin video at 1:40am lol Thanks I guess haha

@TinyTraveler27096 жыл бұрын
Otakulover Forever she took him because she was trying to reconstruct the mirror and Kai has two of the shards to complete the mirror. If you read the book there’s also some evidence that she grew a little attached to the boy, and probably wanted to keep him like the witch wanted to do with Gurda. Why she was trying to reconstruct the mirror is beyond me, maybe she wanted it for herself. But that was her motivation for taking Kai.

I READ: It was 2 unnamed demons that made the mirror, it impressed the Devil very much. He had those demons fly it up to Haven. Kai's granny told of the mirror and that the Snow Queen kidnaps kids out after dark. Kai went sledding in hopes of finding bliss. The second witch kissed Gerda to make her forget all her past, and was the Snow Queen's sister. Before Gerda arrived at the castle, Kai asked to go home. So his captor gave him icy blocks to spell "eternity" first. But there weren't enough blocks. After Kai was cured, something broke the blocks so they could spell lots of words.

Frozen was so hyped up. When I saw it I didn't get it: the film didn't live up to the hype. The fact this story has been on Disney's To Do List since 1940s didn't help either; they had decades to get this right yet it didn't measure up. Or at least in my opinion.

Like the sister love over the boyfriend/girlfriend love. Or how people liked how Anna woke up with a true "bed head" when Mulan and Tiana did too.
