I was in FuXingMen on June 4th at about 4AM in 1989. People rose up against the CCP en masse, students, workers, and the 38th army. The 38th army refused to kill the students so they brought in the 27th army from Yunnan to kill the students, which they did. The next day, nobody spoke one word about it. The PSB went to houses to pick up dissidents, then everything went silent in just one day. God bless you Laowhy! Keep fighting !

@@lovesees4320 Please don't obfuscate away criticism of the CCP to universals in syatements like 'All governments are bad'. In doing that you imply equivalence between the nature and transgressions of authoritarian governments and all other forms of governance, including Democracy. That is plainly an inane and factually incorrect statement. You need to reflect on that and stop universalising in this context because obfuscating away to universals like that is a standard propaganda technique of both pro-Putin and pro Ping-Mao propagandists because they wish to depoliticise the public and create in them a sense of helplessness so they can continue in their status as autocrats. (Please read Christine Dowd's post among the comments here).

For the record... LaoWhy86 is the one who broke the news, after Covid started, that China's cellphone service carriers suddenly were reporting that they now had a few million less customers. He is also the one who around that same time reported on the Wuhan Institute of Virology website's data from the previous year, on who worked there and what areas of expertise they were hiring for. Awesome first-source research.

They also were some of the first to talk about the Chinese website about the Wuhan lab being taken down. Also about the lab hiding its "public database of viruses." He and Serpentza also exposed the Uighur Muslim stuff..especially how foreigners are taken to an amusement park in Xinjiang. They exposed how the same "local old man," is in all the videos of shills. Plus..exposed the fake Uighur tiktok accounts with pretty girls.. And also the showing of how the Uighur families dancing and entertaining foreign guests." Literally are surrounded by minders. Since laowhy86 and Serpentza and their "the China show," IS NOT paid for by the falun gong...They can avoid the bias and CCP cant call them bias. The two dudes had hope for china..it waa going well.. But the blueprint after Xi rise? Really sad for Chinese people. I recomend the book by Robert Spalding as well "STEALTH WAR:HOW CHINA TOOK OVER WHILE AMERICAS ELITES SLEPT." he was the military attache for USA in China for a few years...and was kicked from DC for being honest about China. Check it out

She sacrificed everything to do it 🙏as did the doctor later.

From what I've gathered from people who grew up in a totalitarian states, such as the Soviet Union, is that around the age of 14 or 15, their parents sit them down somewhere very private where no neighbours can hear them, and, in hushed tones, give them "The Talk". They explain to them what the real political situation is, what their real family history is, about their uncles who disappeared 30 years ago and no-one ever heard about them, why their grandfather, although very intelligent and talented, only worked as a menial labourer all their life, why they were never promoted at work, and why it is necessary to "pass" as a "good communist" conformist and how to do it so as to succeed in life.

It is the best case scenario. The more common is - just not to remember or know the past, not to care about "ideas" - "freedom", "justice" wtf those things are? - just to live your life and make as much "guanxi" (amongst CCP persons) and money as you can, never thinking about restrictions or oppression. I lived 32 years in USSR under CP power and saw how people could be "molded". Every "rebel for freedom" meets not congratulations but mistrust, fear and even hostility from other people. THIS is sad reality.

Excellent! Never met laowhy88 but I lived In Shenzhen when he and Winston were there, plus I lived in Beijing, Lanzhou, and Harbin as well. Believe everything he tells you, including how absolutely wonderful Chinese people can be and how suppressed they really are! Re protests being common but only local, I noted that very early. A huge protest in Macau that I witnessed, was completely unknown in Shenzhen thanks to selective media coverage by CCP. It was incomprehensible to me that my expat buddies could be totally unaware of the protests a short distance away from our base in Shenzhen. Same with Hong Kong…big protest at Star Ferry terminal in HK got NO coverage back in Shenzhen, a 15 minute ferry ride away! Plus, the one Chinese national with us, upon seeing the HK protest, begged us not to look or ask questions saying “bad people! Come away! Don’t look at it!” The scales came away from my political eyes very quickly, but sadly, the 30-35 Canadian teachers who were my colleagues, to this day deny those things took place. Lesson learned: teachers are idiots, sheep, and Canadian education is, and has been for 4 decades, left propaganda. Keep up the good work!

i was living in China when covid was going down. i was in a semi rural area, Lianyungang, Ganyu in the Jiangsu province. i lived there for a good 7 years and how this place changed when covid hit was beyond. every housing complex and street was either blocked off by barb wire fences or brick walls were built. in some areas the literal sidewalk was ripped up in order to make a conrete rubble block off. i was locked in my apartment for 9 months straight, i lived alone which was hard enough but i remember there was a 2 week period where the internet went down and noone could fix the internet in the area because obviously lockdown. food was scarce, i had to rely on my boss's husband who worked in the local government to occasionly bring me some rations to last a week or 2. eventually it turned into me sharing what i had with the other 6 families i had in my apartment building, which wasnt much each but it was the best i could do. sadly that left to one night when one of the people broke into my flat and stole all the food that was there. up until covid me and my neighbours had a great relationship but during this and after the robbery, i was just a white outsider and noone cared i had no food anymore. my boss eventually pulled some strings and i was moved into an empty hotel by myself. horrid time, glad im back in the UK. i love and miss the people in Ganyu and dont blame them for the hell of the last year but i cant see myself moving back anytime soon.

Chinese culture has been incredibly selfish for thousands of years. Relationships are commonly based entirely on whether or not someone is useful to you. Once you are no longer a useful tool to someone, they drop you or backstab you and, for some reason, seem genuinely unable to understand why this is wrong.

You shld be thankful that you are not in America or England. Otherwise, you likely be dead or maybe another one of the death statistic. All the while, the CCP continues to commit atrocities with the excuse of “the West did it 200 years ago, why not us?” bullshit.

@@joetheperformer the human rights misdeeds of the ccp unfortunately don't have real economic repercussions in any way shape or form, so it's a canard as per this discussion and has nothing to do with it. @44:11 a big element in this (china's economic rise) is that somebody else provided global maritime security so that the world could trade with china, import from china and china *could* open up to the global market that somebody is the only remaining, standing significant navy after WW2 - whom didn't have war on its own land and was already configured to do wartime production the USA

To this day the UK gives the world's second largest economy $50billion in humanitarian aid, and pays to import and deliver its products door to door. Products that employ slave labour to under cut western workers wages. Our governments are either utterly cynical or utterly naive.

@@22andresmiguel the united states provided the world order that allowed world trade and a global market system which is when china's 'rise' happened - not before before the US led world order, china was constantly preyed upon by external forces and existed in disunity, in a pre-industrial state and multiple hemisphere spanning empires, most trailing back to entities in europe, competed, raided each other, and occasionally outright fought... this is what in large part gave us two world wars you should look into what happened after WW2 and the Bretton Woods agreement, it makes everything we consider 'modern' possible, and has allowed china and the global south to develop. Its why the US is the world's premier superpower, and why when the US issues trade sanctions most of the global entities that matter decide its best to follow suit. Its why china's 'rise' happened at all.

so many things are wrong right now. i'm a nurse in the US but my friends that do this job in China are all testing positive, and even though they are symptomatic they must go to work. So basically if you step foot in a hospital in china right now, it's almost guaranteed all of the hospital workers have covid and are forced to keep going to work, "as long as their body permits them" (aka you can still stand up). So we wonder why there is an explosion of covid everywhere , i mean the level of stupidity is shocking but also the fact so many people are still praising the government for handling Covid. i mean, it's like shocking and depressing on so many levels.

The suppression in China also infests the mind and creativity. Until China lifts these thought controls, they will never rise above great imitaters. They steal anything not locked down, then make it cheaper. Its sad, because these are hard working people that could soar if they weren't so suppressed. I had a 10th grade Chinese exchange student stay with us for awhile. I was very surprised at how closed off and fearful she was to discuss many topics.

Yes, the prospect of the PLA joining the protests was one of two reasons I thought the CCP might have decided against a public bloodbath. The other was that it wants to retake Taiwan, preferably by popular vote of its citizens, who recently (reportedly) polled slightly in favor of merging with the mainland. A public bloodbath would have reversed any such sentiment.
@orphanmanchu9963
@orphanmanchu9963 Жыл бұрын
lol, since the beginning of public polling since the end of martial law in Taiwan in 1991, there has never been more than 5-10% of the public that has expressed any wish to join with/be annexed by China. Let me guess, the "recently polled" was done by China Daily or some other news in mainland china polling itself

@@McClarinJ perhaps some are sort of fudging the terminology. There are some people that subscribe to the old ideology that Taiwan is the last remaining part of "real China", or something to that effect. Also, Taiwan is a democratic society, which means freedom of the press, which also means China itself can spread dis information in Taiwan unfortunately (or it seems like Russia as of late, is also jumping in on this bandwagon of promoting mis information about Taiwan). So things can be confusing if one isn't looking at the source. But polling data is quite clear that support for Taiwan as separate from China, in all kinds of ways, has only grown substantially over time (to the extent we see well above 50%, even 60%, of the public claiming to be "Taiwanese-only" in identity, as opposed to be both Taiwanese and Chinese, or Chinese-only). There was already strong anti-China sentiment in Taiwan, but chronologically the imposition of the National Security Law over Hong Kong in 2020 was the nail in the coffin. I think practically that meant any shimmering hope of using "One Country Two Systems" was totally dead with respect to applying it to Taiwan (not that most Taiwanese people would have given up their independence for One Country Two Systems, but the HK National Security Law broke any remaining illusions about peaceful co-existence between the PRC and Taiwan)

The nature of China has not changed in thousands of years.....China still wants to focus inward. Modern tech has made that possible down to the individual. They now benefit from Global Trade but China will do what it needs to to survive and remain heavily centralized, politically. Their AI is benefiting immensely from the amount of "tracking data" it has to process....however sinister

Unfortunately, it may be the case that a state with the geography of China can't be a democracy and so the only way to democratize China is to break China up into five separate countries. Although doing that would require some rather unpleasant costs, but it's not unreasonable for someone to suggest that cost may be worth it.
