Despite the usual pro-CCP bias and media censorship in countries like Australia, balanced reporting on Pelosi's visit in other countries actually brought about a turning point in many people's attitude toward the intemperate but ineffective CCP autocracy on the one hand and a willingness among other governments to more openly and honestly display solidarity with Taiwan's Democracy👍 🇹🇼

I teach Chinese language in a creative and funny way. Learning a completely different language is funnier and more thought-provoking. Learning Chinese can contribute to finding a good job. (China is the largest trading partner of more than120 countries.) Chinese characters still retain their pictographic origins. Knowing what the characters look like originally can help understand the meanings and remember them vividly. I’ve spent about 100,000 hours studying English humor and Western culture, and many years studying Chinese culture and jokes. My native language is Chinese.

Who rules the big cities who have the worst gun violence in America ? You might mention that the figures of covid draths in China were clearly not accurate. When he claims that the U.S. had more deaths you should mention the long lines of cars with their dead relatives lining the streets in the major cities of China where they waited for days to have their family member cremated. I think the US sort of “needs” a lower-wage country for factories (which have some drawbacks if in the US, including their large use/pollution of local water, and that if “Made in US,” the price of everything must increase significantly.). BUT there is no reason that a lower wage factory partner HAS to be China, and factory hubs have always moved from country to country as factories naturally seek lower wages and better deals. This was never going to be permanent. I also think that the “you can’t get the expertise outside China” is not persuasive, as once a factories start to move people will migrate to and train for the jobs in the new place. It is like saying you can’t move a Capital city as all the govt workers currently live in the Old Capital…..just start moving the buildings to the new city, and within 5 years, pretty everyone has moved to where the jobs in the new Capital. China also has many unique drawbacks, likes tolerance of fakes, knock-offs and corporate espionage, and China threatens, spy’s on and demands things of the US frequently…..not a great way to keep a customer.

In 2009, the Obama administration co-signed $535 million in loans to Solyndra an innovative solar panel company... and the fossil fuel companies in the US worked day and night to make that company fail. At the same time the CCP/CPC invested Billions of dollars in developing and dominating the global solar panel market. So Ian has not done enough research or he is down playing what is happening in the US markets. If the US was serious about dominating the solar panel market, they would have invested the same amount that the CCP/CPC did, but they put half a billion into one company and let it fail. So where is the accidental cooperation happening in connection with Solar panels? Of the top 10 solar companies in the world 6 are from China, 1 from Canada, 2 from the USA and 1 from South Korea.

@@fetusdeletus5117 I know some of the Ukraine/Russia back story and agree that there's a lot more going on here than meets the eye. And while I know I barely know anything, I know probably a good part of that is wrong. So my only hard opinion is that everything I and everyone else thinks we know is wrong. It'll be 20-30 years before we even start to get the truth about what has gone on between these two countries.

And you cannot use the analogy like you said the way everybody looks at Texas and California and things. No that’s not the way it is. You cannot look at it like that. That’s your way of looking at things just like they have their way of looking at things, but that does not mean that that’s the way it is the plain simple fact is Taiwan has been separate for a long time, and they should consider themselves as being another country because they are with a chain of lakes or not what do you like it or not? That’s the way it’s supposed to be. That’s the way it is that’s what needs to stay.

35:40 Look at the map of the Chinese coast. Taiwan sits right in the middle of it, like a hand in the face of China. This can quickly become a hand around the throat chocking off all of China's foreign trade. Besides that, there is the dangerous example of the Taiwanese living under a functional democracy.

I see quantum possibly similar thing as fusion power or transistors. Very slow progress and seemingly extremely marginal at start but potentially groundbreaking in huge scale in next 50 years. AI is bastard child of cryptography and code breaking so it has had plenty of decades to take over. Quantum is possibly youngest of the bunch in tooling/engineering side.

@@elzoog They are definitely not leaving US alone. There is industrial level of IP theft/transfer and systematic attempt to supplant manufacturing base. Once they are at the top, you country will be treated as a tributary state. You are welcome to your opinion but I am reading the Chinese social media filled with hyper-nationalistic rhetoric, sanctioned by the strict state censorship mind you, calling for the destruction of US. Ignore that at your own peril.

@@syjiang 1) "systematic attempt to supplant manufacturing base" So I guess five years from now, we will be seeing "Made in China" on a lot of products as opposed to now, when we don't see that? 2) "Once they are at the top, you country will be treated as a tributary state" How would that work exactly? If the US feels like it's being treated poorly by China, it would be difficult, but not impossible, to just start producing stuff in the US again. It's not like the US invented ways of production you know. 3) "sanctioned by the strict state censorship mind you, calling for the destruction of US." The US is already doing a pretty good job of destroying itself. The Chinese wouldn't need to do much. Seriously though, exactly HOW would the Chinese take over the US? For China to take control of Columbus Ohio for example, it would require a MASSIVE attack followed by experts who could manage such a city. Not that Columbus Ohio is all that big compared to say, Shangrao, it's just that I don't think the Chinese would be able to start running the city, let alone run it well enough to avoid uprisings and protests.

Afghanistan was always going to be a disaster because…Afghanistan. That is partly why the US stayed so long, knowing that it was going to right back to previously as soon as the US left, and so prior Presidents didn’t want that on their watch and instead just continued to waste tax payer money staying there. And not exactly like the US just decided to go to Afghanistan for fun….with 3000 Americans killed on 9/11, which was messy but linked most to Afghanistan.
