You explained the whole process very well. The only problem I had with the fuel routing was going into dangerous towns or cities where crime is all around and panhandlers, such as West Memphis, North Little Rock, Dallas, Jessup, much of the deep south, etc. So I would skip it and send in another request for a different location. In Louisiana, Mississippi, and much of Alabama, there really is not much of a choice to avoid bad areas though. New Mexico kind of sucks as well. That is one reason why I prefer the upper Midwest all the way to Utah.

I remember back in 1997, when I got my new Volvo VNL 770 and just about everywhere I stopped, everyone mocked me for having such a homely truck and that they wouldnt be seen in such a thing. It is always in an employee's best interest to do all they can to make the employer profitable, regardless of whether or not they get profit sharing. Think about all the drivers who got left stranded far from home because their company was losing too much money and went belly up. Wanna pick your own fuel stops? Buy your own truck and work for yourself. I understand Crete passes their discount on fuel through to the owner operators, too, in addition to passing the fuel surcharge on to the O/O.

When the pump is slow like that, someone at the fuel desk needs to reset the pumps, then they will work fine :)

Your fuel solution has to do with fuel tax vs IFTA tax. In general, the more you pay in fuel tax, the less you pay in IFTA tax, thus making the net cost of fuel cheaper to the company irrespective of the pump price.
