Well...it's called spring. lol! Remember...these videos are a few weeks behind, so it really was still winter. But I hear that it snowed in a lot of places out west today and that they had to close down some of the passes. Like how you point out the "stay hydrated." We are also BIG believers on making that a priority!

So i have been following y’all for some time now.. i to am a Werner otr driver though i am new.i never see you mention or ever show info on when you pick up a load adjusting your tandems according to state your in. Vnever see y’all scale which is a major issue in otr trucking

Hello there fellow Team Blue!! Yes! Tandems and scaling are very important. We have some videos on both topics and mention them at times. In general, Kevin likes his tandems all the way forward for easier maneuverability. So unless he has to move them, he likes to keep them there. Ours only works when truck is running. But we’ve had repeated a/c issues ourselves. Best to take it to maintenance before summer is in full swing. Good luck!

I am looking to get my CDL A, I am in Florida. Trying to decide if I should go with a mega carrier like Prime Inc, or pay out of pocket for CDL. I have a spotless record, criminal and driving. I don't drink, don't smoke, no drugs, no wife or kids. I am definitely an introvert and I am a business owner, and business oriented. All my paperwork is set and I have my CDL permit from Florida. I am looking to sign the papers or pay the out of pocket fee by the end of May. I rather not eat the 6-8k school fee, but if it is a better route then so be it. I just know that mega carriers at least prime emphasis on longer training but also pay you less. I am not so worried about the pay, only want to get my 1 year experience in. I am not one to expect good pay for a beginner nor do I believe shit should be handed to you, but earned with time and skill. Any tips would be amazing, If you or any one in the comments has experience or opinions it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and keep trucking!

Congratulations on getting your permit! Sounds like you have a great attitude and understand that there will be an initial learning curve. After 6-12 months out there, you'll have good opportunities for advancement. Kevin paid for his own school, but it was only $4,000 at the Phoenix Truck Driving Institute. We had actually looked in Florida, and all the properly approved ones were definitely pricier. At Werner (and many other companies) there is a tuition reimbursement of $225 per month up to (can't remember exact number) over $10,000 dollars. So, you do get reimbursed, but it takes a long time. If you move on to another company, they won't continue. I think it's only for the first company you go to after getting your CDL. But, for Kevin it meant he could pay only $4,000 for the school and then get it reimbursed. He could go to any company without a contract or commitment. We don't know the details of what's involved if the company pays for it. And what it would look like if you left that company before your agreed time is up. So, look into it carefully. Will they charge interest? Will they pay you less? Can you pay less for a school if you pay it yourself? If you leave early will you owe all of it or just part of it? Do your research and see what works best for you. We wish you all the best! Let us know how it goes and what you decide!! As for training, we can tell you that at Werner it was 21 days.

I have no problem traveling any where just as long as I have a secure place to stay during training. Yes, like you said where ever I start first I plan on staying at least 1 year no matter what.
