If you ever visit Bucharest again. For kids I’d recommend Hype Arena (huge obstacle course and VR games, rock climbing etc) there’s also the biggest mall in Romania called AFI Cotroceni which also has indoor climbing🧗🏻 and ice skating etc. + MINA - Museum of Immersive Arts Unique restaurants, Grand Cafe Van Gogh, Hiro Bay, KONG Herastrau, Indigen Space for Soul, B3ton Gastrobar And of course for swimming activities, Therme Bucharest, Lagoon Park for summer as well as Guava ! Happy Travels 🗺️

The beauty and welcoming warmth of each place certainly have subjective cultural values, perceptions that differ from person to person, just like music... But architecture or food matter much less, because the magic of a city or a street is primarily due to the people who pass by. Your family has this grace, to make any place even more beautiful. Thank you for not believing in British stories about Romanian pickpockets, I wish you a glorious December and a wonderful Christmas!

Food is definitely not that cheap in Eastern Europe, especially in capital cities. It may be 10%-20% cheaper than Western Europe, but definitely not more than that, and certain items are actually just as expensive if not more. What is indeed much cheaper (different ballpark even) is rent, heating and electricity, as well as certain health services. On the other hand, Balkan food is excellent in my opinion.

Iasi is also beautiful but it is in the Eastern side, very close to Moldova. You should visit Craiova which has the best Chritmas market in Romania and it s 2nd best in Europe, this city is in the South West side and if it was summer.I would recommend you to visit Constanta on the Black Sea coast

Hmm this pretty relative , its not that cheap as it used to be ya, but also i noticed u spend like 100 euro at that Carul Cu Bere restaurant . But that one is also one the most expensive touristy famous restaurants in Ro. So you could spend way less in other restaurant thou less famous ^^ prob half of that sum u paid there for basically the same food ^^ Usually the City Center where the most tourist gets , its the most expensive here .
@sebit97318 күн бұрын
Caru' cu Bere is indeed a more expensive restaurant than the average, but the ambiance and tradition of this location are undoubtedly worth a few dozen percent more on the bill. Especially if you are on vacation and don't have to save money for an unforgettable evening, as a tourist or even a local. After all, you don't eat a ton of expensive food every day, there in the history of a city that is teeming with old amazing memories, but only when you want to enter the atmosphere, not for the taste of the food but for the taste of life. And the house beer is a must. I do not live in Bucharest, but about 60 km north and I'm almost 60 years old, and I hope to get there at least once more, with my wife. To celebrate ourselves... or life itself.

There are tourist traps in Sibiu too. Last month me as a local I bought half a liter bottle of water for 6 lei which is over 1 Brit pound. I saw a screenshot with somebody's many (he posted in on the internet) of a recipe from a probably no name restaurant in Păltiniș. He bought just about 4 things there and it costed him 100 lei or maybe more (that's about 20 pounds or about 25 dollars). Water was the most expensive one at ... get ready - 22 lei (about 5 dollars). 1 piece of mici was 15 lei and he got 4 so 60 lei (about 15 dollars). Then he got some bread (which wasn't included and if I remember correctly was about 5 or more lei for each small bun). So there you have it. Add the fuel for the road and there you have it. By the way, the water that costed me 6 lei is from one of the Simpa chain grocery stores and located about 2 minutes walking from Piața Mare (Main Square). On their other stores, the same bottle of water, the same brand is 3 or maybe 3.5 lei maximum. The thing is that if you want to get something to drink and you're on the go but don't want to eat something, they're kind of the only store that is there in the area so they know this. I don't know why they do this but still. The girl working there simply told me "It's a tourist area.". I told her: "Well, your chain store that you work on is called Simpa so the prices must be about the same. How can you charge me so much? What kind of tourist area are you talking about? Since when did Sibiu become such a touristy area? Are we like Berlin, Paris, Prague, Vienna or what?" She looked stunned. Maybe she thought I was crazy and wanted to fight. In the end, I paid for the product and told her to give me this. Before leaving, I asked her: "When you people take a break, do you pay 6 lei for 1 bottle of water each day or you come with yours from home?". I could hear one of her colleagues, that was more on the back saying: "This guy is so pissed but I have to agree, this price is ridiculous." 😅🙂 So next time, avoid the tourist traps and while in Bucharest, resist going to Caru' cu bere. Why pay so much? Just for a bit of music? Simply because it's a historic building? There are loads of other options there. And some have live music too. I don't know about the prices of restaurants here in Sibiu anymore but I had a positive experience at Crama Ileana (Ileana - in our language this name also has an alternative - Elena; in English it would be similar to Helen). Crama Ileana would mean Ileana Cellar. I think I ordered a trout that was cooked in corn flakes. It was so delicious. It had about 2 fresh lemons, cut into small slices. They also have a half a liter of lemonade that's also very good, the best I tasted. They bring it in a very nice transparent glass. I think they changed the chef there, it should be cleaner now. Last time I was there it was better than before. Don't forget that there is an ice rink almost near this restaurant that opens around the winters, near Teatru (Theater) bus station. Have fun and don't forget all prices have gone up here.

Guys, I urge you to stop getting bean soup in bread bowls. It may look interesting but the bread gets soggy and it’s not as enjoyable. No one eats it like this here. It’s just something for tourists. Just get it in a regular bowl and ask for bread and onion on the side. It’s the best!
@videosforeveryone667 күн бұрын
It was served like this for ages in Ardeal. The bread is meant to be not very thick and the soup should be thicker. The thing here is that when you eat ciorbă, you normally dip the bread into it and you eat the sogged bread with maybe a bit of ciorbă on the tablespoon. That's something similar here too but the bread that you eat is the core and as you eat more soup, the smaller the soup "level" goes so you can then break bits of bread and eat with the soup. When you're done, you realize that you've eaten almost the entire bread bowl they served ciorba in. 😅🙂

@@videosforeveryone66 I am from Ardeal and no, it’s not a normal thing. I’ve lived both in Bihor and Cluj and travelled everywhere. It’s being served like that at restaurants or fairs but no one eats it like this at home, nor our grandparents did. It’s just stupid and a total waste of bread.

Generally, it's quite easy to tell when one of those places is a restaurant trap. At least here in Romania. They will have English in the name, the billboard and on the plaque at the entrance, with no local language on it. The servers and bartenders are hipsters - twirling mustache, big beards, tattoos on face/neck, pink hair. And lastly style over substance - weird shaped chairs or bean bags, tables that are too low to eat comfortably, colorful lighting and a specific type of music featuring mostly Billie Eilish. Why do people keep recommending them? Because they're not actually bad and foreigners keep falling for it; but they are ridiculously expensive.
