Hi Pete! I'm a HUGE fan of your work. I know you're ostensibly "a Risk content creator," but even though I *_really_* enjoy the gameplay, _the way you vocalize your journey through life (role modeling introspection, honesty, and forthrightness in a manner not often seen) can/does have _*_SIGNIFICANT_*_ positive impacts in the lives of many of your viewers_ and is, IMO, the best part of what you do. *THANK YOU.* It is in that spirit - and in an effort to, if possible, reciprocate to you the service you so naturally provide to others - that I posted the following response to you in one of the comments below. (OP alleged that you were pissed off when your bonus was broken, and you responded saying that they were attributing too much emotionality to you)... What precipitated your impression that OP was "attributing emotionality" to your _"strategic retaliation"_ rather than to: 1) _your uncharacteristically intense silence_ and/or 2) _your abnormally taught facial muscles,_ and/or 3) _you suddenly holding your over your lips MUCH more than you normally do,_ and/or 4) 4:52 _you interjecting "you don't _*_what??"_*_ (in a snappy manner inconsistent with your very polite norm)?_ P.S.: You responded to another viewer's comment to note that they had not specified what they hoped you would learn by rewatching and examining your reaction. (Assuming my impression of that person's intent is correct) I believe I can provide some clarity there: I suspect that they had the same intent _and expectation/anticipation_ that I had in asking my question: I feel confident that, upon re-examining/-considering how you reacted in that moment, you will recognize 2 things: 1) even though it may not have factored into your play, _you _*_were_*_ (understandably) frustrated_ - and to a degree that I cannot recall ever seeing before. 2) Your posts in the comments-section seem to indicate that _you were/are either not conscious of your frustration or in (uncharacteristic) denial about it._ ❤

Thank you for the support! It is unexpected and appreciated. I do not seek to be a role model. If I am that is on others not me. The show is a personal journey of me as a competitor as you've said. I make a conscious decision to show you guys what I choose to. Warts and all. Because I'm human and because I think it makes for an interesting show. No one can know how I felt in that moment but me. You are all free to make up your own minds. Those who have been asking questions about it I'm trying my best to answer. My process with anger is immediate. I tend to get a bit loud and then let it pass through me. I don't like feeling anger so it's an adaptation to let it go. I understand that a lot of folks come to me to learn so I will leave with this. I know exactly what I did and why. I'd do it again in exactly the same way in that scenario and I chose to post this video intentionally. The viewer is free to learn the lesson, or not.

Reading through the comments: I've been watching Pete a long time now and I've seen how he's grown while he's played this game. The fact he backed off even with the plus 7 bonus is a clear indicator of this, if this was say a year, a year and a half ago, Pete would have beaten the white player until they both died. But he didn't he took the plus 7 took the moment to work through what emotion he was feeling and continued to play the game. What I feel a lot of people are missing here is the history of how Pete plays as well, and he says this time and time and time again in his videos where people get smacked hard and then just bot out, if someone hits you like that, you have to hit them back to send the message you aren't just going to take it. That's what he did. Then he explained exactly how he plays in the VC after the fact and told white that if he wanted to make him lose he'd also make white lose. Is it aggressive? Sure. Is it him bullying someone or being a sore loser or any of that, absolutely not, its the way he plays. He doesn't hide that and it's there in a good number of his videos both here and on the other channel.

I liked this game. Pete generally shows his thoughts because he doesnt have vc. White knew it was risky Because Pete is always going to fire back, the whole lobby new. Pete let the whole lobby know he was willing to throw it away and i think that kept him from really being the fish early game (back to back big trades helps). Honestly big moves by keeping the prize in sight and playing for the win. Risk is definitely a strategy and negotiation game and i believe pete negotiated perfectly there. Any less aggression and he was done for. Well played.

White did miss a fortify in that early turn. If they had fortified correctly, then Pete would have had to break a 7 to break the bonus. Pete says he will retaliate every time, but I don't see Pete hitting a 6v7. Maybe he would manual a few, but I have a hard time believing that would be the play. I think sending that strong message is vital to him not just dying here though. Pete you mention White should have known you would retaliate, but white probably also knew that you would play to win if you had the chance. If they had time to fortify do you think you would have still smacked them or would you have shifted to taking a bonus/play to win like you did in the following turn?

I actually think that reaction from Pete was somewhat justified. Yes the white player did have better lines to it but Pete got there first. Upon the White player making his intentions known, Pete then offered to move his stack out of the bonus to allow the White player to have it. In a normal risk game, what white did wouldn’t be relevant, but when you’re on a voice chat you have to act with some decorum and decency, white failed to do so.

@@TheKillPeteStrategy That’s a good take to have, I think that the statement that this situation makes is actually far more important than the incident itself. What this does is makes a point to every player in the game and any other top player who watched this game, it tells them that you will not allow someone to take liberties and subdue yourself for anyone. Any player that sees this will air on the side of caution when playing against you, allowing you to have a small psychological advantage against these players, they know that you are willing to go to a war off attrition to prove a point and that tool is beyond powerful, it’ll allow you to make moves/get away with things that other players simply wouldn’t be able to.

He went a little off temper but understandably so when you try to negotiate with some one and they make the play regardless without talking through things.
