Hey Pete! I was purple in this game (actually a GM) and I didn't even realize it until I saw my username pop up 40 min into the video when blue made the dubious decision to go for the kill. Then I remembered and from my perspective this really was one of those games to forget. Normally I wouldn't just slam trades into someone and go to attrition, but I didn't really feel like playing a long, passive cap stack and passing game. This account had been reset to master because I hadn't played on it for 1 season, so I didn't really care about the rank. It was actually funny to rewatch with your commentary and try to recall what I was doing and thinking. In case you're interested, here's what happened on my side of the board - you did deduce most of it correctly. TL;DR The funniest thing you didn't see was how magenta stole Africa from me and how he tried to take Spain (see my comments at 15:40, 16:14, 16:30 and 25:40). Also, 29:20 made me chuckle. 4:00 Turn 1 I take France to get extra troops needed for taking Spain. 6:16 Turn 2 I take expensive Spain, leaving my cap quite weak - you see me fortify only 1 troop back to cap. 7:50 I see you take the +8 and I remember thinking "Surely someone will address black - not my problem though". Funny to see it was actually green who broke both +4s immediately. 8:50 Since blue didn't expand further into Africa, I figure it's for me. I strengthen my cap and make it clear I'd like to take Africa next. 9:17 Emoting because yellow breaks France, but I didn't really expect to hold it anyway and I do not plan to retake. 10:00 I emote again, because blue leaves a stack in Africa, even though I was clearly going for it. 10:45 Politely asking blue to move his guard stack, so I can take Africa - which seems fair to me now that I no longer have France (which you correctly deduced). 12:17 I laugh, because blue refuses to move his stack. 12:50 Take a card and pass, waiting for my trade-in. 14:58 You and blue saying "Thanks!" confirmed my fear that no one was really going to / able to address you on that side of the board. 15:40 I take Africa and break Italy, because diplomacy with blue didn't work. 16:14 Seeing yellow also hit blue on the other side makes me think I can win this war. 16:30 To my surprise, now magenta swoops in and steals Africa while I still have a stack in Sicily... Very opportunistic, since I'm weakened from hitting blue. 17:00 Blue was thinking what to do, because he got hit from two sides. He's unable to retake because of my Sicily stack. 17:52 I only start with 9, since magenta stole Africa. I obviously don't let him have that and break with my Sicily stack. 18:32 Magenta retakes Africa and now breaks Spain. 18:53 Blue had already been broken by me the previous turn. Now that my stack is gone, he can retake his bonus. 19:43 You correctly deduce that magenta has screwed me big time. I set and retaliate, breaking his bonus. 20:12 Sarcastic "Thanks!" from me towards magenta. "You break me, I break you." 20:35 Magenta only gets 7 (from territory), sets and insists on taking Africa and guards it, but he doesn't break me this time. 21:03 Blue checks if my cap is weak from fighting magenta. 22:08 I hold Spain, but cannot break Africa. Now I have nowhere to go really, so I just take a card and pass. 23:20 Magenta won the fight over Africa and gets to hold. This emboldens him to now just break me and sit in Spain with a large stack. 24:34 No more bonus for me. You can see how weak my cap is. Funny that you commented on green existing in France and I chose that very moment to remove him from there, haha. I figured he was potentially getting card blocked or forced to break someone's bonus if I removed him. 25:40 I am laughing, because magenta is actually trying to take Spain... Obviously he cannot hold that bonus ever. 27:07 I've had enough of magenta and at this point I'm just playing to make him lose. 28:07 Unfortunately for me, magenta always gets to trade after me, so he just takes back everything and sits in Spain again with a stack. 29:20 "Well, magenta hasn't fucked with them enough" This made me chuckle. Only 71 troops, compared to your 275, haha. I could've probably had like a 150-200 cap if I had just stacked and passed. 30:18 I don't want you to see my cap and get any ideas... 31:03 I had no idea yellow had a huge stack there. I did wonder why his cap was so weak. I thought about taking it to get away from magenta. 32:05 Blue had the same idea. 33:40 I continue to slam my trades into magenta. 34:10 Magenta just trades after me every time and retakes. 34:30 Another sarcastic "Thanks! Good luck" from me. 35:50 I intentionally remove your vision again. 35:57 It was just our war of attrition that kept him busy. In hindsight, I probably should have just let him take everything and force him to go through the center into green and you. 41:47 I slam another trade into magenta, breaking everything. 42:10 Magenta retakes and leaves a stack again. 42:58 Blue gets the bright idea to kill me. All I can do is laugh about it and move on to the next game :)

I've watched almost every upload and certainly every "Europe Advanced Progressive Capitals!" and I must say this was a clinic. The best performance overall I have witnessed (from anyone). The awareness and engagement throughout the entire game. Commentary on the player playstyle and yours. It was such a pleasure witnessing this. Accidentally made the mistake of doing fixed on caps before. Was into the 40s turns and 90 minutes with all players take card cap stack and let the bot build. Even suied into a cap and then bonus and they only took 2 cards and stoped. Knowing I went all in. Ended up leaving when they wouldn’t kill me with 1 troop in each position

I made master in 2 weeks but have been grinding another 3weeks at master trying to get to grandmaster and have barely moved. I feel like I'm missing something now that I am higher up. Don't know if you actually read these but you were a huge help making it to master any suggestions to move up to grandmaster

I have a question about how others feel about trying for the world dom victory in a caps game. In this game where green kept being a turd I’d feel really good about taking them out last and doing it world dom flex on them style. But if I was in pink’s seat and had accepted my second place and helped finish the game on green, I’d be a little annoyed that you didn’t just take my cap and end the game instead of going for world dom and being one territory short. You didn’t waste an extra turn or do anything egregious for the world dom but I’ve been in pink’s shoes before and I can’t help but think in my mind “just take the cap”.

I don't think yellow can complain about collusion. Yellow was being a duck and breaking blue so much, of course blue would take his revenge. It just wasn't a good play to take out the cap yet. At the very least, he should have kept a kill guard

To be fair yellow was probably gonna trade and suicide him on his next turn as he had 4 cards and a stack the same size a blues capital so he kinda needed yellow to die before his next turn

It was blue’s turn and the “Leader” in the top left went from “1/6” to “2/6.” Since it was blue’s turn when it changed, that meant blue stole a cap.
