as long as they have have proper bracing/support for that aquarium poundage. Big job. I liked the drip aquarium too.

I made something like this once, and I really enjoyed it, but it ended up being a swamp cooler more than anything. I was having to add 5 gal of water every day just to keep up with the water loss, and I was having to add a bunch of aquarium heaters because the water was always so cold (the fish were huddling around the heaters).

I've been looking to do this with my turtles, but hadn't figured out exactly how I want to do the wall substrate. My concern with most solutions is weight, and this is an elegant (and cheap/easy) solution.

TMK's paludarium looks great! I like the way lights and mist generator are hidden and overall composition. Would it work with heavily planted tank with near-0 nitrates in the water column? I've been considering something similar, but I don't know if it would work because of that.
@dshobe72011 ай бұрын
I know I'm not who you're asking, but yes adding a felt drip wall will work with low nitrates. You should probably dose aqua fertilizer, but if the water is heavily planted you probably already are. Clay can be added to the pockets to mineralize the felt area. Just a small amount though to much will not allow enough air to keep roots firm. Also , adding shelves of some sort to support heavy plants would be a good idea as felt is not that strong by itself.

I instantly had to look that light up, it is sexy. Over $800 sexy for the hyperspot L with the controller here in the US (we only have two dealers over here but they're big in Europe). But it's now on my Christmas list lol that's going to make an awesome light for my bog filter waterfall set up that I just did for my stingrays and giant tsn. My oversized giant monstera plant would thrive under that sexy light.

Hi how are you? I have been an aquarist for a few years and I intend to have a paludarium in the room in the following sizes. 110 centimeters long and high, 50 centimeters deep and 30 centimeters front glass. My question is regarding the filtration system, will a reservoir be viable for this project, as I want to make this paludarium fully automated and facilitate maintenance. What do you think of the reservoir? Thanks.

What made you choose felt? And how thick is the felt and do you have trouble with plant’s getting to big and pulling away?
@dshobe72011 ай бұрын
Felt has been used by the plant industry to water large areas of potted plants for years. It us called wick watering and while you can find wicking mats for sale they cost a lot and don't really fit diy projects. What you need is a material that has fibers close together, like a tree's wood, that will wick water between the fibers. Using this wicking action you only need holes in your outlet pipe at the top about every 3-4 inches apart. The wall could be constructed with pvc shelves siliconed and braced underneath and screwed from the backside of the pvc panel for heavier plants. A compression fastener like a carriage bolt would work best on a pvc application. You are sandwhuching the pvc not relying on the strength of the pvc, because it has next to none.

So in older videos you use foam under acrylic aquarium and the newer videos you don’t , so is it recommended or no.

philodendrons look like same family as pothos ??
@dshobe72011 ай бұрын
Philodendrons are a huge family of plants with many different growth forms and leaf shapes. Pothos is the common name for the common trailing vine most people use in aquariums. Epipremnum pinnatum cv. 'Aureum' or E. aureum is the Latin
