Making glass is tougher than it looks, but we're teaming up to make it happen! Have you ever thought: Can I melt sand to make glass? How do I make glass from sand? Can I make glass at home? How is glass made? TKOR has done some random experiments in the past and in this video, we're just experimenting if it is possible to take normal sand and make glass out of it? What do you think will happen? How fast will sand melt? How hot until melting sand happens? We dive into the chemistry of melting sand with the aim to make glass. Hopefully this gives you an idea as to what can or can’t be experimented with melting sand.
This entertaining glass making experiment is perfect for those wanting to know if you turn regular sand into something cool: melting sand into glass, how to make glass, how to make glass from scratch, DIY glass, making glass from sand, how to make glass from sand, sand to glass hacks, how to make glass at home, how glass is made, homemade glass projects, or melting sand basics.
If you want to test something creative and entertaining or do an activity such as: science experiment, STEM project, STEM science experiment, science fair project, science fair experiment, or a fun weekend project...watch the video to learn more.

These three are like a science fair team: Andy is the planner, he organizes, chooses the topic, and brings the materials in order to do the project. Cody is the nerd that knows all the theory and tells the other two what and how to do it. And Grant is the Jock that sets stuff on fire and does all the talking during the exhibition, because the other two are too introverted.

Grant, can you please freeze a simple LED in liquid nitrogen. If you freeze a low voltage LED (usually used at 3V or 5V DC with a resistor in series) in liquid nitrogen, you can connect it to line voltage (110-120V AC), and it will continue to work. It gets a lot brighter than you would believe possible. The LN will boil violently, providing a pleasing effect. Warning: This experiment is potentially dangerous. Be careful to ensure that the LED is completely frozen before connecting to line voltage, and is disconnected before thawing. Otherwise, the LED could shatter violently. Use eye protection and proper electrical insulation.👑 like so grant can see !! Not my comment, so if you see this, its BossManChalil

Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" see, this is the sort of collab we want to see. Previously, most of the collabs you've done have been with people who don't have too much to do with the sort of stuff you do. This one, you've been working with people who know what they're doing and, in general, do things quite like yours. It worked out really well - the video felt like a great joint experiment, and the three of you worked really well together!

Or you could go the simpler way. First you punch a tree to get 3 logs, then you turn them all to planks. You use 4 of those planks to make a crafting table. 2 of those planks to make 4 sticks and 2 sticks with 3 planks to make a wooden pick. Gather 8 cobblestone and then lay them out so only the middle square is empty. Make the furnace. Then you go find some sand and then put it in the furnace. Use the leftover wood you have to smelt it or you can mine for some coal. Use whatever fuel you please then put in sand and wait 10 seconds. After that, you have glass. You can craft 5 more to make 16 glass panes or craft 7 more glass, put the 8 glass in a furnace formation and put any dye you please in the middle, making some stained glass. You could craft 5 more stained glass, and lay them out to make stained glass panes.

Piffboy6 too hot, to make steel it needs to be over 1600 degrees centigrade that small foundry won't get hot enough hence why in the steel industry they use a bast furnace which is BIG! And even then it still takes a lot of heat and equipment.

@bibbabibba1975 6 жыл бұрын
Would totally be possible, you need a way to let the slag drain at the bottom though, and clay furnaces (which the ore is smelted in) are broken in order to take the bloom out. Maybe he could fix up his forge to be reusable though

Another option would be to take a less modern approach to alloying steel, considering most of us likely don't have access to a blast furnace (lol) and build something called a cupola style furnace which as Eric Kelly said would allow the copious amounts of slag somewhere to go and so forth, I only know the basic concept but if you are interested in metallurgy you should read up on it... steel alloys are actually quite difficult to make.
