For anybody doing this at home I would recommend adding some pvc glue on the inside of the pvc before clamping it flat, this would help hold it down when you reheat it and just generally strengthen the bow.

Cool project but its quite expensive because i have to buy following items: Chop saw Bandsaw Belt sander Vice Heat gun(unless i can use a hair dryer) Drill and right size drill bits + All the materials used for the actual crossbow

Try the steam bottle in cold water trick, but instead of a bottle, use a tube with a balloon on the end. See if the ballon inflates or pops.

Ideally the bowstring doesn't stretch.

You can pre stretch it if you mesure out the exact length you need. Thats what we do for compound string. Put it under tension with a ratchet strap over night and that should remove most stretching. Do a practice run before to see how much it stretch.

When I was about 10 years old my dad made me a crossbow and I used pegs as ammo, u know the stuff u hang washing out with. Anyway I was playing with it in the street when my neighbors son came out and started throwing rocks at me.
