I've always had a weird reaction to this song. It makes me cry. I think because it's so good, using a few basic chords and power chords and turning it into magic. It's a happy cry. I'm humbled in its presence. It's bigger than all of us. It's close to rock perfection. This is the spirit of rock and roll.

Growing up in Chicago, this was played somewhere on the radio dial every five minutes - not an exaggeration. And ya' know, I never got tired of hearing it. To this day it still sounds fresh. @@thekingsarehere Cheap Trick would've KILLED to write a pop song this good! I was a wee lad of 11 when this came out and it grabbed me, and hasn't let go of me since! Wow im only 24 years old and ive been listening to lots of 70s 80s and 90s candian bands. Its aboslutley criminal how bands like this go unrecognized today, its truly sad. Saw the Kings live in Oakville in the early 70's. They are a band that where good enough to make it to the top. Don’t know what happened but the world missed out on a great band. My sweat shirt says "I may be old but I got to see all the cool bands" and The Kings are one of them.

The first time I heard “switching to glide” on the radio I immediately went out and bought the album! I let the rock band I was in at the time listen to it (I was the drummer) and they liked it but because we had no keyboard player they wouldn’t play it. I told them we could still play it because we had two guitar players but I was overruled. Keep on rocking till your strength is gone!

I just saw them May 5 2018 at the Moonshine cafe and it was better than this version- maybe it was the drinks or maybe just live in the small venue but WOW it was just like i remembered it 35 years ago. They are back playing gigs now that Dave is healthy again and play oakville's Moonshine cafe a couple of times a year. they also have a new great song "Circle of Friends" and are putting a new album out apparently. Still the s'song (its actually 2 songs that run back to back on the album- prob Bob Ezrin's doing) that i hear virtually every day on Q 107 and the one put on the turn table or the CD in the car when i'm down. Cant help but smile when i hear it. everybody has to switch into glide a few times a week

@@mitchgawlik1175 LA has changed a lot since we started going there, a lot more people now, traffic is insane etc. And the world isn't coming to an end but it will be different for awhile, we feel bad about all the lost jobs in our industry and of course the loss of gigs for us to play. So we are focussing on other things, making the best of it.
