The transition from This Beat Goes On to Switchin' to Glide is one of those transcendent moments in rock music, where you can't believe something this good exists. I was aware of this song because of my dad listening to album rock radio in the car in the '90s, but it's only now, closer to middle-age, where I can appreciate fully how great this is. Like "Driver's Seat" or "Ah! Leah!", it's one of those songs that's easy to fall through the cracks for years if not decades, but then you hear it again and just say "oh my god, THIS song!!!"

Starting around 1983 or so, the largest rock station in Columbus, WLVQ FM96.3 started playing "This Beat Goes On\Switchin' to Glide" every Friday at 5PM. It became a tradition that went on for decades. (They still might do it for all I know.) This song became synonymous with the weekend and good times! So everytime I hear it, I'm flooded with 40+ years of great memories, everytime. It transports me back to being a late teen early twentysomething young man in the 80s getting ready to go out on a date or just hang with friends. Thank you, Kings!
