There's no reason for either of them to walk, in blues or scarlets, from one "barracks" to another, and there are no other "barracks" for them to walk to - the only "barracks", which they're from, is Wellington Barracks at Birdcage Walk, where 'F' Company and RHQ currently are - if you think there's another one within walking distance, name it. Feel free to make a complete fool of yourself, though.

We don’t see these everyday and we just can’t believe being that close and able to take a picture. To me they look very good in the uniforms . You can’t imagine how much it cost to come over there. Therefore you take as many photos,videos and enjoy everything around you. I would not mean any disrespect , can’t speak about others . In my time in the German military we had the rules: 1) Never salute in civilian outfit 2) Never salute a civilian 3) Do not salute if the other is on the same tier (Enlisted/NCO/Lt/Capt/Col/Gen) 4) No salute outside the base (don’t make a higher rank a target) 5) No salute in the Air Force HQ Cologne (you wouldn’t get the hand down again) 6) if you are allowed to salute, you salute each time 7) salute your own unit (1997/1998, rules might have changed) For me it was completely normal that no salute was given.

@zen4men In British infantry battalions, generally speaking 'yes', except the Adjutant and Ops officer, which is why Lt's don't salute Captains. Some of the Corps play it differently and get more upset about it, but in my regiment, for example, no officers call any other officers "sir" except on parade. I can't imagine how it can be "especially" a second lieutenant, but maybe not a lieutenant 😂.

It is not a word I use, so have just read it here and there. / The first Google gave "espeicially". Later ones say "lieutenants". So you are probably right - all lieutenants. / A cousin was a Grenadier Colonel, now a Lord-Lieutenant, famous for his sword being commandeered by Queen Elizabeth to cut a cake! Sadly I cannot ask him, as I am something of a rebel in the family, as I expose crimes by government. lawyers and police, and so stay well away to save him any embarassment. / I observe a rotten system shooting itself in the foot, becoming more oppressive by the day. Destroying itself - something I have worked for for 35 years. The Far Left stranglehold will be removed. /

@@zen4men That's never been the case - even the most seniority conscious Lt is still a subaltern in any unit. It used to be that short-service officers finished Sandhurst after 6 months (SMC) while regular officers carried on there for another 6 months (RCC), with graduates only doing 6 months (Victory College) then going to their units as "full" Lt's, by-passing 2 Lt after Sandhurst altogether, but that hasn't applied for quite a long time and everyone now does the same one year course (SCC). The big difference in infantry bns and cavalry regts comes with appointment, not rank, as Adjutant or Ops Officer, not at Lt or Capt.
