This is our third visit to Thekkady and this time our plans were to go in concord with nature. We enjoyed bamboo rafting (watch it on Jaunt Monkey: / jauntmonkeytv ) and explored a few places near Thekkady a day before. However, that day we decided to try Tribal Food in Thekkady with Mannan people, a tribal community who lives in Idukki District in Kerala.
They set their cooking ambiance in the midst of cardamom plantations. They decided to cook their traditional chicken curry, ragi porridge, and fire-baked fish (fish barbeque).
Ragi porridge was plain but when tried with a unique recipe of green leaves, it was awesome. Chicken curry and fish barbeque were also yummy that I would never forget the tribal chicken curry and the tribal fish barbeque.
We will also try tribal cooking in Wayanad, but another tribal cooking video will be uploaded soon on Food N Travel channel from Ponmudi with Mark Wiens.
