@@themattock Nope, a drill will cleanly make a hole by scraping away the sides and dumping the excess outwards, thus creating a stable arc at the end of the crack, while a nail hammered down will push the material to the side of the nail which will spread the crack even more.

I had a crack on my new 2020 car, I took it to the ABC glass repair and paid $40. The crack size was a little bit bigger than a quarter dollar coin, and now is almost the same size. Not a big difference when the were done with their repair. But yours worked very good. I wanna know if that depends on the type of glass or it works for everything as good as your video and if it's too late for me after I took it to a repair shop or I still can make it look better. Thank you.

It's diffiult to tell whether or not this windshield was actually repaired. Outside he doesn't provide a direct shot of the crack but keeps the camera at the same angle which could be concealing the crack. The same thing in the garage at the end. The only time we see the crack the same way we seen the crack prior to the treatment is before he puts the curing strips on after applying the resin, and the crak is apparant despite his partner claiming it was disappearing from the inside as soon as the resin was applied. It don't think it worked and this is the reason he doesn't show the windshield from the same angle after the curing as he showed it in the beginning of the video.
@socks24413 жыл бұрын
you might be right. although when the guy was claiming it was disappearing they were repairing the chip, not the crack, of which it should work on. also, i have seen a professional video where they repaired the same type of crack pretty much perfectly, but they did have professional tools. still the same exact technique though.
@Marcoosianism2 жыл бұрын
Was thinking the same thing. If a long crack repair is successful you never see the sharp line of a crack after resin is "injected" correctly, even when the resin is still wet.

You should use denatured alcohol instead of glass cleaner. That way you can clean the actual crack and not worry about it because it evaporates so quickly. You can also clean your wiper blades with it, so you don't buy the can and never use it again.
@rkgsd5 жыл бұрын
In general for a crack that big, the best long term solution is to replace the whole windshield. Also, those resins wear off over time. It also depends on how nice the vehicle is and how long you plan on keeping it.

@socks24413 жыл бұрын
put loads of vasaline on the plungers, then run them along the crack a few times before starting. just to make sure it will work and you wont get stuck halfway etc. so to answer your question, not really. also leave the strips on until the glue is cured. in direct sunlight it should be only 15 minutes, but i would leave it a good few hours.

Is there anything different about this glass repair kit than other types? I have the permatex kit but was wondering if the one you link to has some special sauce difference.
@aznnp77 Жыл бұрын
It's the same resin probably. If it's just a bullseye I actually think the Permatex kit id better cuz it does a good job of getting the air out of the crack and using pressure to fill it in. If you actually did what this guy did with the vaseline and have a long crack, I think this kit works better. I use the Permatex kit on my line crack and it made it a little better, but the crack is still noticeable. You don't have to look at it too hard to find.

if the crack reappears its less likely to spread, also it can be useful sometimes to get the resin in. also as he is repairing he has someone pushing on the glass to open the crack, which would likely spread the crack further if he hadnt drilled. it may have worked without drilling, but you might as well. my dad always said if you are going to do a job, do it properly. so yeah, you might as well give it the best chance of success possible. he also said if it aint broke dont fix it. unfortunatley i have ignored that rule too many times and made things worse trying to fix them... hence me being here watching this video..
