I love to haggle with the old timer salesman at the flea markets! 😂 They love it too...😊 It's part of the experience that has been going on for years and years. If you wanna get right down to it. I think they enjoy the conversation and challenge of the sell. That to me is the best part of my hunt. Good Stuff Kevin!😊✌🏻👍🏻 ❤

After being in sales for over 10 years and dealing with thousands of people, I loved going to markets even if I didn't need to buy anything. I just love the adventure of finding rare items and the excitement of haggling, the wheeling and deal of the sale. When younger I absolutely hated the sales industry, but one man changed all that when I saw him sell 30 radios all at once. I was so impressed I still use him as my mentor as to why I now enjoy sales. He told me, its the challenge of the sale, the thrill of the sale and not losing to a customer who says "No!" Its not about manipulating anyone, sometimes people don't see value, its your job to show them. There are ways to get a vendor to sell you something if they're hard nosed, experienced sellers, some angrily sell and some don't. A young man, who I could tell was not a regular at a trade show was selling an item, can't recall what it was. I asked him questions, spend about 10 mins talking to him to feel out his sales experience. I talked him down to half his asking price, in the end he even threw in a gift and he smiled and admitted he was surprised that I was able to talk him down in price. He quietly said I was the best haggler he met that day. I smiled and told him, I appreciate the gift, but I felt bad taking it after working him down on his asking price for the item. In the middle east and some Asian markets, they're known for being fierce hagglers...all in good fun for the sport of course. If you pay the asking price, the other vendors will mock you and they'll make you haggle for a better price. lol

Wow. Spring has sprung down there-We Woke up to 4” of fresh powder snow here. That little Sleeveboard’ Cattaraugus’ is a sweet gift! . May want to look into that Red Bone Case folder!- Case knives were the most frequently forged. Just doesn’t quite look right, but I pray it’s good. It has had some stuff done to it so that might be why. Best! Patriot Knife Guy checking out🇺🇸

Great video and nice knives. Thumbs up to your video. I agree with you. Never pay the asking prices. I always ask more than I really want. That is what flea markets and yard sales are all about. I offered less than the asking price at Kmart years ago. Sometimes they went now but not too often, lol.

You know the old saying, if things could talk imagine the story's they could tell. I believe that knife has some great stories/history behind it, as you say. I have found some amazing things at antique markets and trade shows, alot of people don't know they items they're selling. Then you find people who are encyclopedia's of world history and you can spend hours talking to them. I'm sure many can attest to running into items they've regret not purchasing at the time. For me is was an antique pre 1900's Victrola, portable, record player, it was complete with the Edison labels, the wax recordings of Edison and a collection of over 30 records...all for under $150 bucks. He even told me to make an offer.

I think that WW2 knife was the find of the day in that haul. To be honest, knowing how collectors of vintage items are, I would not alter anything of that knife. I'm not telling anyone what they should with their property, but that's the honest thing to say. Altering items as rare as that knife, all it will do is devalue it. I've seen items such as flintlock antique firearms lose value just because of modern screws on the item, or because of repairs due to lost or damaged parts. I was told by collectors who have items in the hundreds of thousands, if you want to try and change things, don't do it...leave it as it is.

I have an old case knife fixed blade with the original sheath. I don’t know what the steel is but it’s very hard to sharpen and it was my uncles Boy Scout knife. It reminds me of your pal. I got the best price: free as a gift. He passed 25 years ago in his 70’s and according to case themselves it was made in the late fifties and 25 years ago they said it was worth $80!

Cattaraugus Cutlary in Little Valley NY, is where Case started in 1886. After watching your video, I asked my wife if she knew where it was and she responded that they drove through the town yesterday on her way back home here in northern PA. There is a historic sign saying that fire destroyed the factory in 1912 but some inventory was saved in a little brick house that still stands. It is probably forty miles from me so I will have to take a drive over there and check it out this summer.

Sir, I might suggest you Not wear your Knife Doctor hat while shopping for knives at pawn shops/yard sales/antique/thrift stores so they Don’t know who you are and your expertise. I have found if I wear a USMC hat (I was in the USMCR from 1970-1976) Folks tend to appreciate you more and will actually go out of hand to help you. Your videos are splendid ! You make my day seeing what you’re up to at your property. I had to stop planting a garden because the deer eat everything up so good luck this Spring with your planting. Good on you! I have a friend, he told me about a friend of his who called him up. Someone in the community passed away and they needed someone to look at some items. Some elderly lady, her husband passed away. She found an entire closet full of firearms, accessories and didn't know what to do. He was so shocked when he saw everything he said "What do you want me to do with all of this?" He told her it was going to take a long time to price out each item, and he may not have enough money to purchase everything. She said "I don't want a single dime, just take it all out of here. I don't want to deal with it." He felt guilty and kept offering her alot of money for everything and she refused. He said he made a small fortune.

Those shop owners are stubborn as a rusty nail, and most won't budge on price. Sometimes you find a place that will lower their prices. Eventually, if you shop there and they get to know you, they'll work something out if you do multiple purchases. I think they're from old hard stock and want you to earn their respect and those who appreciate their items. Its always a dance between seller and buyer, its the thrill of the sale.
