That union knife is a civil war Era knife. They used to put union knives (Naugatuck) in the soldiers mess kits.

hibbard ,spencer and bartlett was an old hardware co. their knives were made on contract by the big knife companies at the time.

You know what 😂was thinking. I’m 58 and I don’t really have anyone in my life that has any interest in knives and I have been giving some of my collection away to people who I think are deserving and appreciative of them. I don’t see young people around my area in New York who care at all about knives, and maybe it’s a stigma. It’s only a matter of time before they truly outlaw them and have sidewalk scanners that detect items in people’s pockets and then that’s going to be the end of it. I’ve known many people whose wives and children just toss their deceased fathers collection in dumpsters without a second look. It’ll probably be my fate too.

Remington sold their knife division to the pal blade co. 1940.

My book says DuPont bought them in 1940. I have a RH-71 with DuPont on it.

the Dupont purchase was prior to 1940. Remington prior to WW2 wanted out of the knife business so that it could devote its resources towards arms manufacture for the war . i believe Pal bought the Remington knife division in 1940 or 41.

I have a tested similar to that one it's bone but has the same laminate mines chiping away but bones not. I wonder what they used on it for Laminate
