Totally agree on Bell. He will probably be gone soon, but they cut guys like Schrader and Graham to keep him, so the damage is already done. The roster politics need to end, and end quickly. I still think Aiyuk will come on strong later, but he screwed the team by holding out and missing camp just to sign the contract they offered to him to begin with. Still, JJ just had a better game than Aiyuk has ever had, and is far less expensive.

The vertical thing was usually negated by the pass rush generating pressure to force the opposing QB to throw early, but right now, they couldn't pressure a high school QB. Been saying since the before training camp that John/Kyle are too stubborn in trading guys wanting new contracts. Sometimes you need to take the Belichick approach and say here's our offer, take it or we'll get you the money you want from a place where you'll be as mad as Davantae Adams in Receiver.

If you think about it, a QB only needs like 2-3 seconds of time in the pocket to launch a ball over the top for a 50 yard completion. The average time it takes for a quarterback to be pressured in the NFL is 2.9 seconds after the snap. If totally unimpeded at the line of scrimmage, a receiver like Tutu Atwell can run 50 yards in about 5.25 seconds. The ball is in the air for 2-3 seconds of that. The vertical passing game is almost always an option for an offense when they have guys who are simply faster than the DBs covering them. The typical way a defense deals with this issue is to disrupt their route at the line of scrimmage. Bully them. This gives the pass rush the time they need to get to the quarterback. The Niners did not do that when it mattered the most. Atwell was in motion and just ran right by Mooney Ward.

Shannahan refuses to run the ball on final drive, how does the running back not know to stay in bounds like Purdy did, SHannahan gets nervous and stops running the ball, incomplete pass stops the clock, 14 year olds on Madden Football have better clock managment.

49ers timing in life is off. If Robbie Gould or Demeco Ryan's had stayed on for another season we would be Super Bowl winners. It's very difficult for a Superbowl losing team to gear up the mental strength to play at the same level. We may be better next year.

The crucial errors puts some unnecessary/extra blame on the defense. Our lack of speed in the secondary and no Greenlaw will prob lead to our safeties playing deeper which opens up Intermediate routes, our secondary is small and slow.

I put this loss on Shanahan game management and his stubbornness in using certain players. Bell should have never been playing over Cowing, but Shanahan has this issue with using rookies. Then why have rookies on the active roster? He used Guerrendo out of necessity, but WR was more critical in this game due to Deebo being out and Aiyuk under performing.

In my opinion, we are seeing a 49er offense that is shifting away from Purdy conforming into it the offense to the offense having to conform to Purdy. When the key players return, the offense will be very different. They will have to adjust to Purdy’s style of play.
