BA and Trent were trash because they held out of training camp, 49ers have no chance if the starting QB is a hold out. Kirk Cousins was benched, led the league in INTs, can barely move, and won't last a game with this offensive line. $50M+ APY is fair for a starting QB, and Brock seems like the type that would take a team friendly deal.

Many things can be true at once: 1) The QB pay scale is wildly inflated; 2) Brock has shown to be at least on par with, and arguably better than Jalen Hurts, Tua, Trevor, and Dak; 3) The Cowboys, being the Cowboys, overpaid for Dak; 4) Take any QB in the league, take away his 1st, 2nd, 3rd string RBs, his top receiver, his starting LT, their 2nd best LB, their starting cornerback, and give him an unreliable kicker, and I guarantee that they will struggle. At the end of the day, Brock has shown that he works exceptionally well in Kyle’s system, but he needs people around him. The Niners have serious issues on the O-line and need to make it a huge focus in the draft. Getting CMC and Aiyuk - and hopefully Trent - back next year will do a lot to right the ship.

They have six draft picks in the first four rounds of this draft. Three of those six picks need to be offensive linemen. It does make sense to sit the starters for the last 2 games. But I think Kyle is playing for his job and Brock is playing for his big contract. Is he worth $60M/year? Who knows. It’s only his second full season, he’s still young, Steve young didn’t even start for the Niners til his 7th season, you don’t know the future, the Bucs traded Steve young after his first 2 seasons. Joe Montana had a 21-26 record in his first 3 seasons. Purdy broke both of their passing records and has the most games in nfl history for ANY qb in their first 3 seasons, with a passer rating of over 120 in 13 games, and his first ‘season’ started in week 14, don’t write the kid off yet, these things take time.
