If we don't find a way to destroy corruption, whatever we will try to do will not work. We have to start teaching in our schools how to be a patriotic citizen. I remembered in 1962,the people of Ghana were very confident. Things start going bad after the 1966 coup. We went back to colonialism when Busia became the prime minister and started listening to the British and Americans to sell important industries. Unfortunately, Akuffo Addo has the same mentality. Akuffo Addo knew what he was doing. In his mind,he was taken us back to pre-colonial times. They cut our head when Nkurumah was overthrown.

I keep asking myself, why cant we rather train our people and empower local businesses to mine our minerals so the money stays here , honestly I never understood this,If it’s about funding why not borrow from the IMF to fund these projects after all we borrow from them and misuse it anyway. I think the problem is we haven’t found a leader who loves this country after Nkrumah. These leaders only come and steal. It’s never about fixing the country

Good evening, KSM! It's Nation Time, and I'm here to add my voice to your submission. First of all, KSM, why is your show always in English? Lol! It's all good, man. I’ll pardon you since you’ve already explained that you don’t have a specific topic today. By the way this is the reason why we encourage English and to a larger extent forbid our kids from speaking Vernacular? Surprising my 10 years child thinks I cannot speak the Ghanaian Language because they have never heard me speak that before. Hahaha, but I did that for them! Today my kids stand tall in all the subject including Ghanaian language. Language plays a critical role in shaping identity, culture, and communication. In Ghana, vernacular languages such as Akan, Ga, Ewe, and Dagbani are integral to the nation’s cultural heritage and social fabric. However, within educational and professional settings, there is often a push to limit the use of vernacular in favor of English. While this policy may seem restrictive, being encouraged to adhere to English in formal contexts can have significant benefits for personal and national development. 1. Global Competitiveness English is the official language of Ghana and a global lingua franca. Proficiency in English is essential for engaging with international markets, securing global opportunities, and participating in global conversations. Pushing Ghanaians to use English in certain contexts ensures that individuals are better equipped to compete in an increasingly interconnected world. 2. Academic and Professional Growth English is the primary medium of instruction in Ghana’s educational institutions and the dominant language in professional settings. Encouraging the use of English enhances clarity and consistency in communication, preparing students and professionals to excel in their fields. It also fosters better understanding and interaction among people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. 3. Promotion of National Unity Ghana is a multilingual nation with over 80 spoken languages. While vernacular languages promote cultural pride, relying solely on them in certain settings could create communication barriers and foster division. English serves as a unifying medium, allowing people from different ethnic groups to communicate effectively. 4. Preserving Vernacular While Adapting Pushing for the use of English does not negate the value of Ghanaian vernacular languages. Instead, it ensures that while vernacular languages are preserved and celebrated in cultural and informal settings, English remains the preferred language for formal interactions. This balance ensures that Ghana’s rich linguistic heritage thrives alongside its global integration. 5. Cultivating Discipline and Adaptability In schools and workplaces, being pushed to speak English rather than vernacular instills discipline and adaptability. It teaches individuals to navigate different contexts appropriately-switching between vernacular and English depending on the setting. This adaptability is a critical skill in a globalized world. Conclusion KSM in conclusion I will say while vernacular languages are vital for preserving Ghana’s cultural identity, being encouraged to speak English in formal settings equips Ghanaians with the tools necessary for academic success, professional growth, and international relevance. Striking a balance between promoting vernacular and prioritizing English in specific contexts will empower individuals and strengthen Ghana’s position on the global stage. Kweku Bart-Addison

The late Dr. Runoko Rashidi, historian, research specialist said. "What you do for yourself depends on what you think of yourself. What you think of yourself depends on what you know of yourself. And what you know of yourself depends on what you have been told of yourself." SANKOFA is one of the major elements to relearn everything we have been thought in this journey of our self-image (the true African mind). What we seek, we have to go back to the source.

We take pride in not being able to speak our local dialect. We are proud to have english names like Brown, Hammond Charles, Bartels and look down on our fellow Ghanaians with local indegenous names. We laugh at those who cannot pronounce words in english and we parade them on social media. It is so pathetic.
