A good way to get off the phone quick with the wife, "Oh! I got a tip-up up. Gotta go. Byeeeee!"

Fun and interesting video, especially seeing how many fish looked at your bait but didn't bite. And several that bit but apparently didn't trip the flag. Thanks for sharing!

That underwater footage was so cool. Some walleye were pretty finicky. Crazy how they just chew the head before taking it all in.

I usually just make a loop in my line that can easily be pulled out instead of using a line marker. I haven’t noticed it having any sort of impact on my line or anything. It’s very similar to your line on your tip ups.
@bradgarner9087Ай бұрын
I have had that problem not getting the hook set on walleye when i use size 10 hooks. I switched to 8 work way better and the fish dont seem to mind them.
@andrewaw3634Ай бұрын
I use #4 gamakatsu octopus hooks and 6-8lb test for my walleye tip-ups. Run a series of 2-3 splitshots a foot and a half above the hook and up. Gives the minnow less resistance to swim and I feel the walleye don't feel it as much as one heavy splitshot and are less likely to drop. I also like to use the biggest fatheads I can find. I've gotten some big perch and crappie on tipups mixed in.
@michaelhutchison2754Ай бұрын
You fish Bear Lake at all in Haugen? Man I use to pound the crappies and perch there.

If you let them go what is the point?
@Wisconsin_FishermanАй бұрын
Hey James, Letting fish go is crucial for conservation and maintaining healthy fish populations. By practicing catch and release, we help fish reproduce and sustain their populations, ensuring future generations can enjoy fishing too. It also protects genetic diversity within fish populations, making them more resilient to environmental changes and diseases. So, releasing fish is a key part of responsible fishing and helps keep our favorite spots vibrant and full of life.

I would switch from suckers to fat heads. The minnows were just a little big. Large fat heads with a size 14 or 16 hooks work great
