It’s unusual to hear someone who “gets it“, and “explains it.” I went through the exact same thing in my plumbing business. I never wanted a big crew, just to be self-employed and make all the money that I used to bill out for other companies. I went through the first three years that you talked about. But now I clear over $100 per hour from the moment I walk out the front door till the moment I get home. I keep my personal overhead low. I work three or four days a week. The rest is all free time. This is key: The one customer who bitches about paying $200 per hour would still bitch even if you quoted $25 per hour. So just quote what you want. You’re almost always going to get the same reaction regardless. It took me a few years to realize this.

Wadup Do! I turned 50 this year. I've always said it that money can only buy you material things - it can't buy you love, happiness or health. People who have money can keep it. But if you want me to mow or do any landscape maintenance work you're going to have to pay me what I think I am worth.

You are very funny to me... Your voices and impersonations of certain characters that you come across in life... It's really funny and priceless. I agree with the comment below, you are hilarious. Sometimes I can get wound too tight and be way too serious and I watch your videos and it really cracks me up 😂😂😂😂😂 your voice and impersonations of certain types of people is really entertaining. Are you ever going to come out to Arizona??? I've been to Michigan, I lived in Chicago, New York City, Massachusetts, Georgia, ALL over Florida.. my family is mostly in Arizona thanks to my great grandfather who was a very successful farmer in Mississippi... he died in a tragic tractor accident on the farm back in 1983. I am named after him and so is my uncle. Back in the 50s he bought about a hundred acres of land in Arizona and sold it for a huge profit right before he died and my grandmother and great-grandmother have been living comfortably off of it since 1983. It's quite a story honestly and I get a lot of inspiration thinking about where I came from. I like working with my hands and trees and dirt... lately the most inspiring thing I'm doing is learning about business and how to keep the phone ringing.... It's addicting and I love it. I only wish that I had done it sooner. I'm so glad that I finally did it and I'm coming up on my one-year anniversary of my business. I'm about to go fully legit and I'm very excited about it. I owe a lot to your videos.. I would have never been where I am today if it weren't for your videos!! It's funny to say this to somebody but you really changed my life. You don't know me but I am a friend that is deeply indebted to you. Thanks Keith from the bottom of my heart 💓 I think this video really gets good around 9:40 Odis Bynum Bynum Tree and Landscape Mesa, Arizona

I've been in business for 38 year's and this video is real life. In the beginning u will have to sacrifice price and labor, but the quicker u develop ur pricing skills and confidence the better ur going to be. I remember the first time I told a customer I can't do it for that price. Oddly enough I had a smile on my face all day. I never felt better about not getting a job. I had jobs lined up and could finally stand my ground. Beautiful feeling.

I hate it when you quote a job and the customer tells you the last company charges litterally $150 cheaper than what you would charge and then the customer looks at you as if your overcharging them when in reality the guy who did it for them before is probably out of business for charging such ridiculous cheap prices. It's so easy to fall into a trap and taking the job for cheap when you know by doing that you will be miserable, just to satisfy a customer that they hired some lunatic that did the job for pennies.

Bid on a lake home extensive maintenance for the exterior and interior. Let’s call it about 20 tasks total. Client responded with “let’s just go with these tasks for now”. His “only tasks” was only 2 out of the 20. Mind you this lake house was recently purchased for $2.4MIL and he lives in a $4.5MIL home. Make sense out of that 🤷♂️

My first car was my dream car. A 1974 AMC Javelin. It was kind of a pain in the ass mechanically.. but it was beautiful. I owned it for 12 years. Wish I still had it. My current company vehicles are 2 Dodge Dakotas, paid 4,500$ each for them. Both were pristine creampuffs with zero rust on the body or undercarriage. One had 105,000 miles, and the other had 92,000 miles. Bought one in 2015, and the other in 2019. They are 1999 and 1998 models respectively.

We only mowed it for $150. We approached him told him that we think he should pay alittle more for us to mow. He looked at us and smiled and was like no problem I think that’s fair.... well guess who never returned our phone calls or contacted us 😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣

I have tried a handful of different psychotropic drugs only to find that my depression was not a chemical imbalance. Its different for everyone but for me the things that helps the most is networking, taking lots of vacations, caring less about everyone else, getting my work done first before anything else, building relationships only with the people that care for me and I for them. The change that had the biggest impact was taking emotion out of every transaction. I know its a cliche but for a good reason. (Its not personal only business)
