Hello! So, the cypher series are DISS tracks directed at their haters, they came out when they had a lot of clap backs from the underground hip hop community, and lyrically they’re very biting and angry. RM’s style is commanding and intellectual, he’s the kind of rapper that could cuss you out and you’d say thanks, because it’s too smooth. His flow switches are crazy and he uses the deep tone of his voice. His verses are often filled with cultural refs and word play that’s kind of hard to translate. SUGA is the nasty type, he doesn’t take any shit. He spits his words, and is one of the fastest rappers in Korea. Stylistically, his tone is often angrier than the other two, but they’re very versatile. Opposed to RM, his pronunciation isn’t as clear, but more laid back and ‘too cool for this shit’. His verses are more straightforward, especially in the cyphers. J HOPE is a dancer, and was heavily influenced by the other two as a rapper, so he developed a signature sound with both bite and coolness, and has a very distinct voice. He doesn’t quite have Suga’s speed or RM’s wordplay, but his flows are as seamless as his dancing. Whereas the other two are noticeably old school influenced, j hope has a more modern sound to him, a bit more melodic. His lyrics are mostly encouraging, he’s the ‘hype man’. His verses tell his story, pump up the other boys and are almost always, as Suga once said, the glue that ties their songs together. I’m sorry, this is a bit long, but I tried to explain it how I see their dynamics as rappers. They work really good together, the mind, the heart and the body. BTS have one of the best lyrics in the indistry! You have to react to the lyrics, they are sick, I'm 100% sure you never heard a rap lyrics that good! RM play word is amazing! This guy is so smart his IQ is 148! And Suga is oftenly calles "The Korean Eminem" cause of his fast rap! And I'm talking about all of the BTS songs! Also they are very versatile, not only in style of music but in lyrics they talk about different topics, issues.. Suga is One of the fastest rappers in korea. He’s known for his “tongue technology”, RM has an IQ of 148 he’s a genius! Rm and Suga are underground rappers before they become BTS. rapping is in their veins. And Jhope? Suga is the fastest rapper in Korea but the rappers are undoubtedly the best rappers in KPOP. Honestly, the lyrics don’t always translate well to English but they’re very lyrical. People [news outlets etc.] refer to RM as a philosopher that raps lol. There’s fan made translation videos from the Cyphers that I recommend you watching but it can be tiring because they rap fast and it’s a struggle to have to try and keep up but I’d still recommend them! 💜

Its hard to explain to u what they are saying, not to mention it would really take to long. So, lets go this route...look up the lyric video, it will back down each verse, and that way you can also pause it when u need to. As for the Cyphers themselves...it's actually quite simple, they are responding to their haters and critics that told them they wouldn't succeed because "they turned their backs on hip hop, gave into temptation. When they go on stage they get their make up done, and became IDOLS." That is what one rapper, name is B Free, said to them. Trust me when I say u need the lyric video. After u guys are done with the Cyphers, go with all the solo songs. RM, "Do You" or "Joke."(this one I recommend) Suga "AgustD" (pronounced like the month). J Hope "Daydream" or "Airplane part 1". Than the vocalists, Jungkook with "Euphoria", next Jimin, "Serendipity", V "Singularity" and last but not least, Jin with "Epiphany." Good luck, hope this helped you out a little....

I really hope y’all read the comments and read this one lmfao sjsjjs most of the few comments here talking about jhope are so misinformed and wrong so I really recommend you not to read them or take them that seriously. He definitely has the best flow out of the three rappers and his ability to change flows as many time as he wants mid verse is insane. His wordplay is really really clever and funny, he also has this habit of making very upbeat songs with very dark lyrics, his entire mixtape is like that!!! He got into rap until he was signed to BigHit (bts company) in 2010 so he has been rapping for over 9 years now, like Bts was originally planned to be a hip hop group so most of the original members were underground rappers like RM and suga, hoseok once said that when he started to get into rapping he had to participate in freestyles rap battles with all of them and was really bad at the beginning but got really good as time passed!! Suga and RM helped him through the process but also have said hoseok had a start of any regular underground rapper since he shared dorms with other 5 UG rappers and composing, Free styling etc was part of their everyday life!!! He got pre debut writing credits as he had a collab as a rapper for a Korean soloist before bts debuted and right now is the 2nd member with most writing credits under his name after RM. he has such a unique voice and is the one that usually sticks in your head whenever you listen to any bts song, he really does have the best verses in every song. I really wish I could write and write everything there is to know about him as a rapper but I don’t wanna write a longer essay haha but if you’re interested in learning more about him just ask on Twitter and I promise you everyone will give you way more amazing details. He is really unique and amazing, someone said “he raps like he dances” and ik this makes no sense to you Rn because you don’t know how he dances but once you see you will realize what this means :) thanks for checking bts out they won’t let u down. Also if you could, his mixtape is called HOPE WORLD and it was critically acclaimed as well as comercial success for him. - 3:36 - most of BTS' music have deeper lyrics, pulling from art and literature - if you'd like, there is an entire series of songs and music videos that all connect to a fictional story line, we call it the BTU (Bangtan Universe), and there are webtoons that tell parts of the story as well (I'll leave it to others to list the story line things in order - all I know for certain is that it starts you down the rabbit hole with I Need U, the 19+ original version) - but for rap line, specifically, you could try the songs they've done that are usually recommended by ARMY to be watched followed by the explained by a Korean series of videos by DKDKTV (Ddaeng, Baepsae, Spine Breaker, Paldogangsan) - 7:07 - that is Supreme Boi, one of the original members of BTS before he decided give up being an idol to pursue the production side of music and joined BigHit's production staff - 7:25 - RM is the one fluent in English, the others can speak a little, but not well enough to be confidant - they're getting better every year though - 8:33 - that is from Cypher 4 - the medley consists of each one performing one verse (their own) from Cyphers 1-3, then the full Cypher 4 - 11:07 - Suga's line here is SUPPOSED to be "payday, paycheck, ROLEX on my wrist", but he stopped at the ROLEX part to look at his wrist, effectively doing 2 things: being a bad ass flexing his success, and showing haters that he does not need to lip sync to pump out his fast paced lyrics - he, and the other members of BTS, often do this, stopping mid-verse unexpectedly to prove they don't lip sync, because they're so good at what they do, people are constantly accusing them of lip syncing

I have always believed that jhope(bucket hat) flow is a reminder of him as a dancer he rides the beat. Rm(tall one) is very intelligent so his lyrics are full of symbolism and his flow tends to mimic what he is trying to say in his rap. Suga now suga suga....high key I love, regardless his rap to feels like he is talk to someone, his is a very smart guy quiet but knows his thoughts and feelings so his lyrics tend to blend that, he will tense you, seduce you, then laugh in your face. I recommend the lyric videos for the cyphers so you can understand, and also watch BTS Hardships, they talk about all the haters and issues they had when they started. Especially RM and Suga from the underground rap scene who said they betrayed hip hop for becoming idols. yeeees there are metaphors, idioms, onomatopoeia, just some crazy ass word play, switch from korean to english that makes sense and sounds smooth like yall dont even know AND IT ALL HAS MEANING! bts know the girth to lyrics and have called out mumble rap and rappers who say 3 words a bar like our dudes dont mess around. thats why go look at a lyric video! our guys are real rappers real singers real producers real entertainers real artists! you will not be disappointed bc our guys are lyrically gifted!

BTS are known for their heavy lyricism. To answer your question, yes. They do have really good lyrics and bar structure. All the cyphers are basically a clapback to their haters. An incineration. You’d have break down the English translation lyrics of every Cypher yourself. You’d also have to learn a little more about the BTS rappers background to understand what they’re talking about

You asked about "are they lyrical"? They not only can ride the beat like nobodies business & their flow as smooth as melted butter but their lyrics are bar none, some of the best. You guys have to, have to, watch the lyric videos of BTS songs that are out there but also their official mvs have Closed Captions for English. They are among a handful of the most lyrical artists out there on the world stage right now. Their lyrics are also a part of the reason why they are where they are. Our rapline is very unique and put together they are lyrical geniuses, no lie. There are even times when you hear/read one of their songs you are like "wow", they are deep. But, then you watch an "explained" video by DKDKTV that breaks down the Korean meanings of word usage and you are "man, they are next level". Some of their mv's are the same way. For example the rapline song DDANG or the group song IDOL & Baepsae. Suga is a savage - he has criticism of the world. RM - he is philosophical about the world. JHope - he dreams about the world & envisions how it really should be. You guys keep going! We sure do Thank You.🌹 P.S. On live recordings the closed captions (when offered) are auto-generated & 99.9% of the time make no sense.

There are lyric videos for each song. They're lyrics are FIRE! They take a lot of pride in lyric writing but these are actual Cyphers directed at BFree a rapper that insulted them in the beginning of their career because they chose to leave underground rap and become idols. He called them sell outside, not real rappers and girls because of the stage makeup. You should 100%do Who is BTS and most people do it all at once. Armys never mind watching it...may of us have seen in many, many times. Just take your time and always turn captions on when they're available.
