I must be missing something. There are people who hate Chris Harris? Is it just because he's not Hammond, Clarkson, or May? Because I find that he is TG's saving grace.
@gtametro4 жыл бұрын
I think the hate is aimed more at the format and how the producers had him interact with the other pair on camera. To me it seemed like he was trying to put on a persona. At least compared to other things I've watched him present.
@ShonnDaylee4 жыл бұрын
@@gtametro Interesting. Thank you for attempting to clear that up. I think, due to Chris's personality (i.e. not as bombastic as the other 2 presenters) leads him to take a back seat unless it's time to thrash a car around a track. I wish he would take more of a Jeremy Clarkson role (i.e. head presenter) but it seems Paddy has taken on that role, more or less. Either way, I think Chris saves the show. His knowledge, and ability are keeping the show afloat, imho.

I think the hate Chris was referring to was during the Chris Evans days when they had a whole mish mash of presenters inc. Eddie Jordan and Sabine Schmitz etc.............
@ShonnDaylee4 жыл бұрын
@@FazermanD That was only 1 season, and was dealt with very quickly. Frankly that season deserves all the hate it gets. It's awful. The Leblanc seasons were only just marginally better, but was helped along by Harris, dramatically. Chris (Harris) has been holding the show together for some time. Chris Harris is a real hero of mine and on the few times I've been fortunate enough to meet him he has always been exactly as he comes across in this interview; approachable, genuine and an absolute font of automotive knowledge. I just wish I hadn't been so left hand drive prejudice and bought his old green 911'Kermit' when I had the chance! More interviews like this please Jonny and keep up the great work on TopGear Chris, it's working.

Fantastic interview Jonny, I’ve always liked Chris Harris but my respect for him has gone through the roof - such a down to earth guy, life in the limelight not as easy as people may think and love the fact he enjoys the cheap fun cars rather than just collecting the shiny stuff!

Monkey has inspired me here finally opening up about his cars. It really helps me as someone with no other friends or family who like cars like I do.

Awesome! What a great interview! Very nice to to that Chris Harris is as genuine, as he has always come across as. I appreciate that he has not went down the influencer route, and stayed true to his passion as journalist/enthusiast. Jonny Smith I am not as familiar with your work, but well done. Best of luck!

That was excellent. My two favourite podcast are: Smith and Sniff and Collecting Cars, so this is just the best of both worlds. In the unlikely event that Chris or Jonny are reading this. Jonny, keep up the good work, the KZbin work is great and to be honest I think it's better than the TV stuff. You're at your best doing the quirky and geeky stuff you clearly love, TV will always restrict that. Chris, fair play for opening up about mental health, that takes balls. For all the issues with Chris Evans and top gear, the one great thing to come out of that was your involvement. Top gear needs at least one true petrol head. As someone who read your work in Evo, then PH and loved the KZbin stuff, I never saw top gear as selling out. We all grew up watching and loving top gear. I remember being able to stay up later on a Thursday night to watch, I think I was about 8 when Tiff did the McLaren F1 episode, it was the most exciting thing I'd ever seen. Who wouldn't want to do top gear? Jealousy is a terrible thing. Most of those who criticise do so because you are living the petrol head dream. Top man.

I have been following Chris since the Drive days, I have to say I have a lot of respect for him, on the first part where he mentioned the negative press from Top Gear, it was quite harsh as a fan to see people hate you as well while knowing who really Chris Harris is and the love and passion you have for this sport. Keep your head up high champ and do what you do best and people will realize that you can not love cars and hate Chris Harris.

Very humble guy. It’s not about money or value of the car it’s about the enjoyment and passion.
