Not only that, but he is an unapologetic narcissist. Every movie he is in, he demands it be rewritten to give him more screen time, more dialog, to make him a bigger hero, etc. For example that terrible Mummy remake was such a dumpster fire because of changes he forced them to make. I like how in the movie the young ones keep calling him old. He wasn't afraid to age the character and tell a story about a man becoming the wise old man who accepts retirement and passes on his knowledge to the younger generation. It's very rare in Hollywood where they try to pretend age does not exist.
@angelbob772 жыл бұрын
The original Top Gun came out in 1986... Tom Cruise was probably 23 or 24 when he filmed it. He's almost 60 years old now. People who were 8 or 9 years old when the first Top Gun came out have been inspired by the movie, joined the Navy, graduated IRL Top Gun, become instructors, and have retired. So yes he is old lmao. Probably several generations, three wars, and six Presidents older than anyone that would still be serving today. The first movie came out before the Soviet Union and Berlin Wall fell and when Reagan was still in office. The premise that he's still a captain and he's still flying and kicking the ass of all these young guys is already ridiculous so why the hell would they pretend that he's still just as young as he was in the OG movie? He's probably two or three times the age of everyone he's teaching. It's the only logical course of action lol

Dude is 59. Regardless of what anyone thinks of him, he's in incredible shape. He really takes care of himself, lives life to the fullest, you just sense the energy from him. And he's still doing interviews, travelling the world. A dying breed of a movie star for sure. And the biggest catch is that I feel that beneath the movie star smiling look, Cruise I think is much more serious, much more focused and IMO he more enjoys riding fast bikes, cars, flying planes, discussing technicalities, logistics, etc. than making movies or chatting on talk shows - I think he just happened to end up as a movie star. I wish one day he would be able to just drop the movie star act completely and just be himself and cool with it, because he's earned it.

He loves making movies. Miles Teller said that Tom would talk to him about movies and the industry for hours on the phone. It's his passion.
@PiCheZvara2 жыл бұрын
@@jadedjane6241 You obviously think PR is just real talk. These people exaggerate, often even make stuff up. When Tom Cruise was asked about his favorite movies in another interview, older one, he couldn't name one - and he just kinda dodged the question that he loves too many movies or all of them. That's a BS answer, especially for someone who supposedly is passionate about movies. Just total BS. He is a hustler, a smart guy and passionate overall, so he knows selling this passion will make people buy into him more. That's why he says it. But IMO deep down, he is way more passionate about other stuff.

At OCS, and also at flight school her bunkmate Natalie is the woman who was Obama's pilot. She was commissioned on Aug 11, 2001. Thirty days later the world changed. Tom really loves the cinema and that can be seen from all of his films, whether it be learning sleight of hand for MI1, becoming a champion level pool player for the color of money, flying helicopters and fighter jets ,or doing his own stunts in every movie, Tom just never cuts any corner by using stunt double or CGI. One of the last remaining actors who give us the real cinematic experience and for this reason he will always be my favorite actor. And I have nothing against CGI either I love movies like Avatar and Dune that showed us things we never saw before, but those theme parks CGI movies where actors dress-up like cartoons and still end up making billions really surprise me. I hope more people start appreciating what the real film making is about.

I could have listened to that interview for hours. What a legend Tom is and James, you are a lucky man indeed and also a great man. I take my hat off to you.

He was so damn smooth that it went by so quick. That would be a cool thing to have is actors talking about their crafting of each movie.

Tom cruise is one of my favorite action movie stars. He was the best actor for Top Gun. I can't wait to see this movie.

I was impressed with the lady. She looked a ruthless bad ass in the trailer, and a very kind person in the interview. I guess this says a lot about her talent.

8:08 is why Tom Cruise is the best. Monica Barbaro is genuinely appreciative of the compliment, and that tells you all you need to know about the respect level here.
