You just saved me $$$. After watching this I went out and checked and it was the floor mat (which I moved) and I cut a small section (1”x3”) of carpet out and works just fine now! Thanks for the video 6 years later!!

Thanks for the video. Glad I watched to the end to see your "actual" problem. I have a 4.3 in my 2000 sonoma and it too is hard to get in 1st and reverse gears. I won't attempt to repair it myself, but watching your video will let me know what to tell the mechanic before I take it in. Appreciate you.

Update. I took out my floor mat to the Sonoma and it allowed my clutch pedal to go all the way down. Thus my shifter now goes into gears easily. Thanks again.

My 2003 Silvearado is the same way, got to slam the clutch pedal to the floor to get it in gear. But this was almost that way when new. I only have 24,000 miles on it now.

How do you adjust the clutch pedal on an 2003 chevy 4.3 5 speed
@kellismith4329 Жыл бұрын
Pretty much by bleeding it, if the slave cylinder is leaking, you are in for a trans r&r to swap it
@mktampabay16 жыл бұрын
Was yours made in Mexico? Apparently a lot of the 4.3's that were made in Mexico had the wrong master cylinder installed. There is another one for $99 at gmpartsonkine with a longer rod that is supposed to fix this issue. I just ordered one for my 06. Hopefully it fixes the issue, fingers crossed

Matthew Kendall what did you find out?
@mktampabay16 жыл бұрын
John Motschenbacher didn’t seem to make much of a difference. I also didn’t bleed it though so there’s a chance some air got trapped when I swapped masters. Need to get myself a mightyvac. I did dig a little foam out from under my floor mat and it helped a bit.
@JohnMotschenbacher6 жыл бұрын
Matthew Kendall thanks for the update. Sadly I tried the mightyvac to the top master cylinder port to remove air only to basically have no clutch now. 🤔

Today a very experienced NAPA Auto Parts salesman tried to sell me 80W90 gear oil to use in the clutch reservoir. The guy at O'Reilly's did not know that the fluid is DOT brake fluid nor that DOT 4 is compatible and better than DOT 3 TMK in all applications. Trust no one. Trump Univ. School of Competency.

Might the problem have been the slave cylinder?
@Donnythelatemodeltech7 жыл бұрын
+Bad Actor very possible, dropping the transmission was the last thing I wanted to do. Removing the material from the firewall seemed to do the job. I didn't have the truck long enough to see if this was a long term solution. Thank you for watching and commenting!
