Love the sprinkler stuff. Makes me feel better about procrastinating that project myself. Thanks for showing how you do it. Moving that bad boy to the edge will really help weed control. There is no need to water areas that dont need it, just encourages the weeds. I moved 4 of my bed zones to drip and its awesome, soooo many fewer weeds.

Greetings from Nassau, Bahamas! There is a saying when Florida sneezes we catch a cold lol That holds true when it comes to climate shifts and droughts. It has now been about 28 days since we had any significant rain which forced me to re-do my entire irrigation scheduling and coverage. I have been doing the manual hand watering day after day to cover areas where the irrigation was a bit lacking but I decided this weekend to buckle down and run some new lines for more coverage. My new lines aren't as pretty but its getting the job done so my lawn can survive this drought. The positive thing is I am absolutely dominating everyone in my neighborhood and probably most of the entire island but continuing to watch your videos and staying motivated to ensure my lawn remains lush and healthy!

6:29 - thats a PVC "coupler". Learned that one recently doing some hose-spigot repair thanks to yanking too hard on a hose lol. This piece is designed primarily to repair/extend a run of PVC or CPVC (outdoors here in FL) piping. Crack your pvc pipe? cut it straight, put on a coupler, and now you can keep running the pipe to wherever you are going.

Early May (NE Ohio) I put down GrubEx. In early July I tried BioAdvanced because I was having some spotty grub issues. A few areas got worse and I had spots of dead lawn, inspected and it was grubs. UGH!! We had a huge Japanese beetle problem this summer. I'm going to try the liquid Acelepryn for future treatment.

I had weak spots like that I put a light layer of flower bed mulch down and mow to mulch it in. Non chemical/glue saw dust would work better because it is finer and can get to the soil layer faster. I even mow my hedges pruning in my back yard and the st aug loved it start growing like crazy.

Allyn, another good and inspiring video. One question about the sprinkler in your beds. Is the logic that the roots of the trees are in the lawn already and will draw water from that area anyway? I'm just asking because I like to work on my own sprinkler system if I can and have a couple of trouble areas due to evergreen trees being installed after the sprinklers were installed. It creates a dry area in the hotter months and the grass really suffers. I'm going to try to think of another way to get around that problem. I always love your videos. Enjoying the mow in Northwest Ohio! Sorry, but how do you deal with spraying any "icdes" with your dog? I want to spray for dandelions etc but the vet said to give the sprayed area 3 days to cure. Right now, I plan on spraying the front yard where the dog doesn't have access too unless we take him out there and skip the backyard (his domain).

Longtime landscaper here 🙋🏻‍♂️… My theory is that most hotspots suffer from reflective heat and reflective light from the sides of houses, buildings, structures, parked vehicles, house windows, white vinyl fences, sheet metal sheds, and blahblahblah…. The spots are already getting the heat from the sun itself, then a window or whatever just reflects and shines down on those spots like a magnifying glass on an ant. Most hotspots I find are almost always on the southwest exposure of the house where the sun lives all day long. I went with chlor-AN-TRA-nili-prole Last…. A lot of herbicides, pesticides, and ferts are pretty thick and end up clogging the screen at the end of either a hose end sprayer or even commercial backpack sprayers. Especially trying to be efficient and spraying all at once. Dilution doesn’t seem to help and can be counter productive, obviously. What do you do when you make a super thick herbicidal milkshake in your sprayers?

My understanding - per watching their product videos - is the “convenience” of not “having” to water it in “right away” - but allowing you to wait until your next irrigation cycle or rainfall. It’s not harmful to people or pets if it sits on the grass prior to irrigation. But, yes, eventually, it DOES need to get watered in to become effective.

I'm going to go with Chlor-an-tran-il-ip-role, based on the fact that usually anything with trani isnt actually pronounced that way. Tranylcypromine pronounced as (tran il sip' roe meen)

I have that same dry spot here in Palm Coast. I think when the builders laid the Sod, they gave two craps about putting the sod on good soil or even turning the soil. They just laid the sod on hard compacted dirt. So maybe the stolons never made its way into the soil. I don’t know. Tomorrow I’m going to use my aerator step tool to open some holes and soak that part of the lawn. I did have a few digging animals around. Moles maybe…. I laid some Grub ex. They told me at Home Depot to kill their food source, then work on moving them down to the neighbors house.

you can, it works great - but that is older chemistry and these new chems give you longer residual and more broad spectrum control
