I don’t think this can even help me. I fear that the weeds have choked out all my grass. I think when I got my property I just wasn’t prepared for the heat and how bad the weeds and crab grass would take over. I see the guy who won house is on a small slope hill. My house is too and that has made the dirt tumble down away from my house. Idk what to do?

I’ve been mowing the lawn higher so I can leave it grow longer without cutting whenever there’s days without rain during the hot summer. I’ve noticed that this helps retain moisture. If there’s rain in the forecast, then I’ll mow the lawn. This way I don’t need irrigation except if there’s no rain for a long time I might have to put a sprinkler out or water by hand. I haven’t even been picking up the pine needles this summer. I’ve got a good mulching dual blade mower and this is the best my lawn has ever looked. No more bare spots like before when I was cutting it too short.

Don’t forget summer stress die off. Stressed lawn plus several inches of rain on a thick lawn where blades clump together they suffocate each other giving the lawn some brown spots. An easy detach or manually rake on spots pulls it right out. I was day 1 milo comp. Glad to be considered.

I live in Texas and this year my grass is very bad. I have St.Augustine grass but I did not fertilize. I usually have a beautiful lush yard. I need help my grass is so dry you can see the ground. I am a female who know nothing about my grass other than getting it cut.

What mostly happens is people can’t cut late at night in fear of late noise and they don’t water enough. Oscillator will take 4 hours for a 1/2” of coverage with more in some spots. You need to do this twice a week at 5-9 am. Cut the night before those water days. Cut above 2.5” of blade.

Tell me that's not 'goosegrass' @5:38. I've been battling that for about 2 years since I bought my home. It defies almost all post-emergent treatments. I have given up with that and am manually pulling it up and throwing away mass quantities of just the seeds you are holding in your hand. I get it now before it goes to seed because Ag schools tell me that each plant can produce up to 40K seeds apiece if left to. I hope to break the cycle with pre-emergent in Late Feb or early Apr. Got any secrets for 'goosegrass'? EDIT, Also that taller, bright green @9:18 is probably early goosegrass- If left it will grow like a wagon wheel diner plate size and larger with the seeds you had in your hand @5:38. Annual but prolific if let go year to year. I hate it! (I'm in Idaho) EVERYONE has it here!!!

I have the same issue with my lawn. I live in NJ and my lawn was great until the end of June. Througout the heatwave recently, we were in the upper 90s to low 100s for 3 weeks with no rain. Even now we barely have rain or low temp I have been irrigating my lawn every other day since Spring and have been alternating propiconazole and thiophanate-methyl since May every 2 weeks. I use 2oz for every 1Ksqft of the chemicals mixed with water on a 4gallon sprayer. All was great until the heatwave...but then even with the preventive I still got fungus. I know the grass is dead because when I do the tug test, it comes off easily. There are other parts of the lawn that are irrigated but are still brown, but they don't come off easily when I do the tuf test. I thougt it's going to survive the year without any disease, but I was wrong. And honestly not sure what preventive should I try next to prevent this from happening. I just gave up the chemicals for the rest of the year and continue with the irrigation, and looking forward to aerating, detaching, and reseeding in the fall.
@razoray782 жыл бұрын
still have to cut the lawn though, that is why I was constantly alternating fungicides. I know when I get fungus when I see it, it's just that when this crazy heatwave came in that I've had issues. But still...not sure what can be done as preventive
