Southern most part of Louisiana. I have Bermuda and torpedo in parts of my st Augustine. Honestly it’s gotten better over the years. Cut high and cut often and you can keep most of it at bay. Bermuda goes dormant and the torpedo goes away in the winter. St Augustine comes back quickly and out thickens the Bermuda and torpedo every year. Won’t get rid of it completely but it’s what I do.
@GlenCannon239 Жыл бұрын

With PGR, you can slow down growth to comply with the no mowing ±7 days recommendation. Did my second application of Recognition and Fusilade II three weeks ago. It's a slow process, but it's definitely knocking back the bermuda. I have a small patch of torpedograss, but it doesn't seem much affected.

I have learned to mostly overcome Bermuda grass in my buffalograss. I had a large area that I initially killed with glyphosate. I continued to kill the area for 1.5 to 2 years. Then I planted new buffalograss. For any small spots of resurgence, I kill them again with glyphosate. I have found that tenacity is safe on buffalograss but turns the Bermuda yellow. Using the Tenacity is a good way to find the Bermuda, but it still has to be killed with glyphosate. The buffalograss and Bermuda grass look extremely similar. I have been at it for almost 14 years and I would say I am 99% Bermuda free. Last year I had to kill two small spots about a foot in diameter. This year I have not found any, but may not have been looking hard enough. You just have to do as LCN says and get out in the lawn. It is a challenge to keep ahead of it. Thanks for all the great tips Allyn!

The timing of the release of this product is unfortunate because for most of us it is going to be too late to apply on our St Augustine as it is about to go dorment very soon for most of the warm season grass zone (I'm in North Florida). 28 days to work puts us in Novemeber. If I applied today 10/2/23 my SA lawn would look like crap until spring with massive bare areas with no capability to recover effectively even with liquid fert in the mix. At this point unless yo live below I-4 or south Texas I'd wait until mid-late spring next year to apply this mix at this point in the season.
